OEM AMP difference?

I have a Stock non-JBL amp in my 94. I also have the JBL amp from my friends 94. Is it worth the effort to switch them?

Who knows what the big difference is? Also is it a direct swap? Do all plugs and wires match up?

The jbl speakers are all different and have individual amps attached to them. All the plugs are different and I think a customer in Hawaii tried that and it did not work. It would be cheaper to buy the car, I think.

so if I have a speaker thats not working on my JBL system it could be one of these individual amps?

The factory amp rarely sells on Ebay Rich. In my opinion, it is nothing but a big paper weight. I guess now you're going to put in an aftermarket system now?

isnt it only on 2nd gens that the amps are actually on the speakers?

Thats why I asked my question. One of my driver door speakers doesn't work and I am trying to troubleshoot why

define amp and define on the speakers?

ok, two wires go in, amp requires a power wire, so I don't think its "on" the speaker. Are you sure the amp in the trunk just doesn't have dedicated "amps" for each channel?

I don't know the JBL amps usually go pretty good on eBay. I have one of each. 94 has the basic and I have a JBL unit I was going to replace the one I have in my 94.
 
there is no amp on the back of a gen 2 jbl speakers, as i am staring at the speaker now, and the jbl amp i pulled out was just 1 unit running all the interior speakers
 
Yes but the JBL amp has crossovers all built into it for the woofer/tweeters in the car. I think that may be a problem for the non-JBL cars. Not sure, but something to think about.

ok crossovers built into a amp and individual amps "piggy backed" on a speaker are very different
 
That ad for the amp isn't correct, the amp for the 93 and 94 are the same, they changed the plug configuration in 95.:)

I sold mine for $55 on Ebay.
