Odd Sunroof problem. Wont "stop" when trying to close it.

I have a 98 Mark Viii, with a sunroof obviously...


About two days ago when i went to go shut the sunroof i noticed it wont "stop".

Now what i mean is, lets say the roof is all the way back and i go to close it. Instead of stopping and closing (after it comes in, it lifts and locks into place) it closes but than doesn't stop in place like it should. It immediately goes into the "Vent mode" where it is cracked in the back. Try to close it and it closes then slides right back into the car.

I hope this makes sense and i really hope someone has a fix because i love having the roof open.

So i guess my question is, what determines or tells the roof when to shut and lock into place?

Replace the motor. There's switches inside it that can go bad.

theres a synchronizing procedure do some digging and you should find it. prob around a year or so ago

yeah the pics kinda helped, but not much (ford pics were always crap) and they are long gone. just do what it says and you'll figure it out.




wait, it is a factory sunroof yes? map lights above your mirror with the roof switch between them

Yes?


That small panal at the rear of the headliner, is that the sunroof access place???

yup, be glad its not like most fords, most have no panel and gotta drop the liner

Also how does it come down? Just pry it open with something?

yeah no pics anymore, and yes the cover will swing down ( i believe it swings forward )
