On the exhaust manifold or downpipe before the catalytic converter. And there should be another one behind the cat.
It depends on which Bank 1 O2 sensor it is. Bank 1, Sensor 1 (HO2S #11) is on the passenger side, between the passenger side cat and the exhaust manifold. Bank 1, Sensor 2 (HO2S #12) is the after-cat sensor.
It may be that one of them is screwed into the cat (the diagrams on AllDataDIY leave something to be desired, and I don't feel like crawling under my car). Either way, #11 is the passenger-side front O2 sensor, and #12 is the passenger-side rear O2 sensor. They're screwed directly into the exhaust system; you can't miss them.
FWIW, you can change the O2 sensor with just an open-end/box-end wrench. I've always used the box-end of the wrench to deal with the O2 sensors on previous cars. The new O2 sensor should come with anti-seize on the threads, but if it doesn't, make sure you put some on them.

ok thanks. At autozone they told me bank 1 was the one on the drivers side but I guess I will go down there again and ask them about the 12 or 11

I've been told like 3 different things I've been told bank 1 was the one on the drivers side, passenger side and both. Is there anyone who knows for sure?

Bank 1 is the passenger side and Bank 2 is the drivers side! 100% for sure.

That all depends on your friendly local parts store. Personally, I'd order them from Team Ford (see the ad on the right side of the forum), but your friendly local parts store probably has them in stock or can order them for you.

Consider changing both or all 4....
I changed the front 2, then I looked at the rear 2 and just sucked it up and spent the money & changed all 4 sensors. I just used an open end wrench and did not use a socket. My LS has 102,000 on it.
