O/D troubles

When I had bought the car a few years back I noticed that when I started the car I would get a "check transmission" and the over drive light would flash. I would click the o/d button a few times and it would stop. I eventually got it fixed about 2 years ago and it hasent done that until recently. It seems to do it when there is considerable amounts of moisture in the air rain or heavy dew. Any ideas?????

Have intermittent O/D issues as well, also when it's wet out.

Check the inside of your shifter, where the wires go up to the O/D on/off button. Mine were frayed through under the console area, and shorting out causing O/D to rapidly engage/disengage - confused the heck out of the car.

May not be the problem, but if it is - it's a simple thing to check and fix.

I was having the same problem on my 98 LSC a few years back. I would get the O/D light flashing & the check transmission message. It would happen for me on start up & when the engine was cold but not every time. One day I got a check engine light flashing while drving around town in the Mark. It was a bad boot on #2 cylinder. I had it changed out & have never had the problem again. This also fixed a small shifting issue the transmission had.
