I've kind of got a long story, but I hope a few of you kind hearted LVC users will bare with me and listen for help.
I'm 18 years old. I own a 1993 lincoln mark8
that gave me a lot of trouble. Mostly suspension
problems, but we converted to coil system.
After a while I sent it to my dad's house
to have him fix it up, but he never found time.
In the mean time I drove a 1998 ford taurus ( kind of a girl car :/ ).
Recently the taurus got into a accident (hit and run) the entire
quarter panel is smashed into the point where if I'm driving too many
people it rubs against my back driver side wheel.
Since my Dad moved to Tennessee I picked up the Lincoln
from his old house and now I have some things to fix. I will be giving my sister the taurus and keeping the lincoln for myself. I'm going to take pictures in the morning of it and post it, but I'm wondering is there anyone here that is kind enough they could kind of offer me assistance here and there. I'm not too auto-savvy. I'm not that much of a car guy. I have just LOVED Lincolns and Cadillacs since I was a little kid. My grandfather used to pick me up from school in a brand new Lincoln town cars and my uncles drove Devilles. I'm really just looking for someone who would be nice enough to maybe give me their permission to send them maybe a pm over this site or maybe a message on AOL Instant Messenger about where I'm at with my car maybe some help as I go along. The problems are as follows.
Problems :
Broken Passenger-side Window : Being fixed next weekend
New front brake bads : Being fixed next weekend
Those are the two biggest problems and they'll be fixed within a week
The other kind-of-big-problem. The driver door you have to sort of lift it
to close it. I don't know if it needs a new bushing or what? Maybe one of you guys could diagnose this problem, because its unbearable. Its the most annoying thing ever and I'm sure its not too healthy for my car to be having to slam the door over and over.
Something kind of awkward about the car is that my Dad bought it for me when he was in Canada and the meters are all in kilometers, its not a big deal, but it is annoying and I'm afraid one day if I sell it what if the buyer doesnt beleive me that there really isnt 175,000 miles on it. Its only 110,000. Also I'm not sure what this is for, maybe the cold Canadian winters needed it to warm up.. but there is a plug under the hood that can plug into an outlet.. Maybe it was used to warm up the car during the winters? I'm not sure.
It definitley has potential. It has a beautiful interior. The exterior isn't that bad, the drivers side needs some work. The front quarter panel is a little banged up also the bumper seems a little loose. I'm not sure what I can do about those problems. Maybe after I post some pictures everyone can give me some input on what I should do to it, because I really wanna turn this car around and make it nice. If you have any ideas or solutions to any of the problems I've mentioned or if you're nice enough to allow me to drop you a message every now and then about the status of my car and its problems and ask for a little bit of help.
