Soo a while ago I posted how my mark8
was "NOT SO GREAT". Well.. I got it back today and its starting to show much improvement. I made a list of all the problems even the small ones

NEW BATTERY - DONE
NEW BRAKES - DONE
NEW WINDOW - DONE
DOOR HANDLE - PENDING
NEW WINDSHIELD WIPERS - DONE
CLEAN HEADLIGHTS - PENDING
PATCH UP RUST SPOTS - PENDING
FRONT BUMPER (ITS REALLY LOOSE FOR SOME REASON) - PENDING

Its a lot of small things here and their, but when I put that new Battery in and re did the brakes with my friend after getting it back from the shop wear they put in a new window (Only $60.00 btw). I just had a feeling of accomplishment and happiness, followed by an urge to fix more. Oh the guy at the window shop seen how my driver side door falls down and you have to lift it to shut it so he fixed it for me free. He said its an easy fix and it just happens to some cars and it was no trouble for him at all.

Anyway, next monday my friend and I are going to take a look around the junkyard to see if we can find anything useful. Also I will be patching up some small rust spots on the lower portion of my passenger side door. I will be using Bondo. I've never done this before, any advice? also if I patch it with bondo they are just small rust holes maybe 1 or 2 of them. That doesnt call for the entire car to be re-painted does it? If it did I would just leave it bondo'd with no paint, they are so small it wouldnt bother me.

Congratulations, It is a great feeling to start to see the fruits of your labors. I have always enjoyed finding parts for my car at the junk yards. There definitely is a sense of accomplishment. As for the bondo, just make sure you get all the rust out. I had some and used POR-15 you paint it on and it stabilizes the metal which deters the rust from coming back. You wont have to repaint. You can go to an auto paint store and they should be able to mix some up for you. It really depends on what color your car is. You might be able to get the right color at an auto parts store as well.

Keep it going and good luck with it.

my front bumper was loose on my car and I took it off the other week... the mounts on the sides were broken loose because they were held on with rivets. I got some small screws with washers and bolts and now my front bumper is nice and tight.

Do not use bondo to "patch" a rust hole!!!

It will come back much much sooner than later, do it right the first time and put some new metal in there.
