I agree dont boss them around, but dont let them take you for a ride either. they are going to try and get out of this for hte least money possible, either totalled or repairing it, make them pay to get the car back to what it was a split second before the accident. You had a Lincoln LS with Lincoln Parts. I dont care if it was the first one off the line its still a luxury car by any standard and they have been charging you all this time based on its class. Make them pay to get it right.

Any wages lost, or out of pocket cost (dedutable, rental fees what ever) are why you should go after the person who caused the accident. its what they have insurance for... why should you be left holding the bag?
 
There was a police report, right? If the accident was her fault, why are you going through your insurance at all? You should be going after her insurance, so your rate doesn't go up for filing a claim.

Yeah, well I contacted my insurance company because apparently they needed to know anyway, but I filed the claim under the other party's insurance.
 
Ah, that sounds right. I just thought it was bogus if you had to file a claim to your insurance for something that was her fault.
 
Update:

I just transferred my car to the Lincoln dealership near me, and when it arrives they are going to send an appraiser out to check the condition of the car and I guess go over the estimates with the body shop to see if it is worth fixing or not. I'm not sure why they couldn't just appraise it at the tow yard/other auto body shop, maybe the thought of a dealership scared them. I'm guessing some time today I'll know the fate of the car. Cross your fingers! Hopefully I'll be making a montage of pictures of my car to Oasis-Wonderwall.
 
Is that yard on the list of places the insurance company works with?

I know that just about any insurance company has a small list of places they will go to unless you negotiate something do to-well-insurance reasons. The shops in that list are also on the bill if you know what I mean.


Companies mostly will not just let the car go to just any old shop. They do need some kind of control and assurance they wont get screwed in the end.


And any one that thinks the companies are out to get them needs to get a new company. Thats not what they are out to do at all. Why even bother if you cant trust them?
 
Rumor has it that you were sellin a McLaren grill... what's the word??? I want an extra...

Well they didn't contest where I sent it so that's fine by me. After reading and research, I'll never send it to a place they recommend. They tried to today when I gave my statement.

They HAVE TO pay whatever it costs to fix it or you can sUE THEM for the cost of the repair if you have to our of your own pocket or if your insurance has to cover it. Anything they don't pay for you can sue for...not to mention pain and suffering. I'm still sueing this one bitch who ran into me in 2007 for 17k only cause I was outta work for only a month, and the damages were 1700 (Which they paid to fix)
 
I'd just go down to the dealer and grab your stuff. It's not part of the vehicle, you should be entitled to it.

When one of my previous cars was taken by police (lesson learned: don't be a complete dickhead when being pulled over for DWI) I still owed at the bank. I had the bank call the impound, so the bank could sell it outright. Then, once it was in the bank parking lot, I went and got my sub, amp, head unit, etc. They sold the car just a few days later.
 
But go down there when the insurance guy isn't there. I don't know what they would say about it. They shouldn't have a problem, but you never know.
 
Last time I smashed one the lot let me in to get "personal items". The guy who let me in looked at me and my two friends and said "make sure you leave the wheels on it". That's about all I left. I still have the shifter knob from that car. I pulled all the infinity kappa speakers and so on. If you don't buy it back they will send it to a wholesale auction.
Did they offer a buy back option? Just curious how much they would sell it for.

yeah, 6x8 would be correct; a lot of people do 5.25" or 6" instead because they are more common and cheaper. I might be interested in those too... they are all in proper working order?



Sorry, I have no shame I guess... almost like someone emptying the pockets of a man just shot on the street... But hey, competition can get a bit rough around here!
 
Well ladies, the car came back as a total loss. I haven't gotten into the details yet of how much it's worth in their eyes, but I'm gonna go over to the dealership today and gut it.
