Noob question regarding oil cooler

Hey all i am new to owning a lse with a 3.9 just wondering how i can tell if the vehicle came equipped with an oil cooler.....as i need to know if it came with one so i can get the correct filter?

Look at the oil filter. If the oil cooler is there, then it's what the oil filter is attached to. It will have two hoses running to one of the main radiator hoses.

I thought they were now using the same filter for sport and non-sport now anyway. AFAIK, the without cooler filter is just a little longer than the with cooler one.

They have always used the same filter. There was a change in the '03; the filter got a little shorter, IIRC.
