the subs in my trunk, from some odd reason stopped working. (Infinity Refrence Series Amp, and 2x10 Infinity subs) The fuse by the battery is good, connection to the battery is good, wire connections to amp and to the subs are all good. I did see the "protection" light come on for a moment, and nothing:(

yeah, but i ignored it as i prefer the back seat; As I type this i realize how closed minded i am...i have never even tried it in the trunk.

seriously, if you are seeing the protection light it sound like it is either overheating (or overloaded), if it went on and then quickly off it may have popped the fuse on the amp itself, that would not blow the fuse at the battery.

N/m. Posted same response as above poster.

But yeah, check any amp fuses.

the fuse on the amp was also good, i'm not sure how it would be over loaded, i generally never have it (the bass) more than half blast

Weird. If all cables are good / connected properly and the fuses are good, then must be the amp that's fried.

As said already, amp may have over heated. Depends on how / where you have installed it.

sounds like you blew a fet...disconnect all of the power, wait a min and reconnect. If your ampp has multiple fets it is more than possible for one to be blown and you could still have a power light.

If need be, and the amp is worthwhile I know a great repair shop

Double check your ground connections. That's the first thing I look at if I see a protection light go active.

what he said ^^ the heat will cause them to fail over time, and that could be where your problem lies. based on your original comments I would almost bank on it...Infinity makes decent amps, but the will fail over time (what model is yours?) Honestly, as long as quality parts are used in the build, the real thing that seperrates a good amp from a bad one are the overall construction and the thermal management....think of it like an engine, the more power you make the more heat your going to get; how you deal with it will determine if you are making another run or buying a new motor (or amp in this case)

have you checked for power at the signal wire at the amp with the radio on? you could also jump a wire from the power wire to the sig wire and see if it powers up

my first thought was check the ground. Then go thru the rest of the wires using on of those cheap light on/off wire testers. If those all work there's something wrong with the amp. Repair or warranty.

I've got a half dead 4ch Pioneer that seemed to be a great amp, and a decent but powerful Infinity 4ch that's totally dead. (Now I'm running a cheap Clarion that's turned out to be a great amp.) Post up the repair shop :)

Nick and Joe own the place, and its a little hole in the wall shop. Every time they have done work for me it typically takes them 2 weeks, dont piss them off or rush them, and the work quality is top notch.

Thank you. Next time I'm out that way I will probably pay them a visit, I've got a friend out there who could pick it up and send it back to me.

As for Infinity sucking, I haven't been too impressed with their amps, but I do like my 'Perfect 10' subs, and my Kappa components aren't bad (amazing highs, the rest of spectrum is OK.)

I agree...infinity should stick to speakers,

If you want a hand with the amps let me know...I am sure we can work something out with paypal or something, and being that they have done like 5 jobs for me in the last 6 months they seem to bill on a sliding scale ;)

If you do come out this way be prepared when you meet them and make sure you can get past first impressions ;)

Just kidnap a midget and toss them in your trunk! Instant thump in the trunk!

There might be some screaming as well, so if you can, find a mute midget!

if its a female midget we may be able to sort out the misunderstanding of hump vs thump....hey, its a "one size fits all" cure
