I was testing my car last night to see if in fact it had a LSD or not, 2 brakestands and the I ripped a donut, well on the donut both tires did not spin and I lost power steering and the engine sputtered a little bit, the engine is fine now but theres power steering fluid all along the undercarriage and Im pretty sure theres still quite a lot of fluid left in the resevior.. Any ideas? Im thinking a line burst or something similar.. Cant see crap and I dont have a haynes manual or anything to start taking things off knowledably.. It looks as if the pully is still spinning as well but Ill get a deffinate confirmation on that.. :( Help?

Clean it all up and then maybe you can see where it's leaking out of.

HA HA!!

lol, I'm Jk that sucks dude.

You either blew a line or blew out a seal at the end of one of the lines. If there is still fluid in the reservoir, it won't be there for long. Don't try to drive it with no fluid in the pump or it will burn out. Buy about 10 cans of brake cleaner, jack up the car, crawl under, and start spraying that stuff everywhere you see grease. Let it dry then start looking for the leak.

Alright Ill get on that tomorrow, will an Autozone or something similar have a replacement? Also how do I really get to the lines anyway, I cant really see them all too well, I was thinking of removing the bracing/skidplate type deal but I truely have no idea about this car, Ive been a carburated SBC/SBF guy most of my life.. And Pete Im glad your so informative and supportive of my situations lol

lol good enough for me, im depressed over this whole situation anyways..

It's alright bro...every car has it's problems...I nearly broke down when only 3 months after I bought my LS at 74k miles that it ALREADY needed a new engine...I blame the last owner....damn fat ass!.......I had to pay 2500 out of pocket on a 9000 dollar job.....thank god for aftermarket warrenty....

Oh you have an 05 right? I have put the pages from the 06 service manual here; other genII should be similar if not identical. Click on the steering section and you will find all the lines and pumps and whatnot if really want to start poking around.

Alright, I drove about 200yds down the road to Orielys and got some brakeklene.. no powersteering, Sprayed everything around the powersteering pump, resivior, the belt, everything, started the car up after it dried, the belt is squeeling a little bit but I have power steering now?! Anyone care to chime in.. Are there power steering gremlins or something that I havent read up on yet?

Are you sure it was steering fluid? Have you filled the reservoir yet? And, did it run out again? I've got a pretty good feeling that when this is all over you are going to have a new power steering pump. The belt squeeling could be caused by the cleaner you sprayed on it.

Everyone please notice how I didn't attach a stupid image to my post. You see I am not a post whore.

Im pretty sure its the pump on its way out or something, I have power steering like 75% of the time now, belt stop squeeling but the pump is making ssome noise, resivior still has fluid.. Im lost and I really dont wanna end up in a dark room at a dealship getting ****ed.. lol

Bummer. I've never done a steering pump on my LS. I did one on my old 3.8 Taurus. I know that wasn't much fun. Not too bad, but certainly not fun.
