No key lock on passenger side front door

Dumb question, but I couldn't find the answer in any of the searches I just did.

Why is there no key lock on the passenger side front door? I just checked a couple of LS's on eBay to make sure it wasn't just my '03 that didn't have a key lock there....lol.

I'm sure it's just for cost savings. Now that lots of cars come with remote entry, lots of cars/trucks don't have passenger side keyed locks.

Thanks Gus -- honestly, I have not paid much attention to new cars. Thought for a minute there I had some factory defect...haha. What's weird is my '03 Lexus GS430 comes with a key lock on the passenger side (good thing, too, because my actuator is out on that door right now!)

That makes sense, though, as far as the cost savings. A couple of bucks here and there, multiplied by millions of cars over a decade's time definitely adds up.

It's very rare to find a car with a passenger side key lock anymore. They started disappearing when the remotes started appearing.
