I have a 98 LSC. The blower works and the car heats up to normal operating temp. Why do i have cool to warm air coming out with auto climate set for max heat?

Search under blend door, I dont have a Gen II, but according to this forum it is a common failure with a easy temporary fix.

Do a search on blend door.I am in the same boat and have a new blend door but i dont think i have the mechanical skills to do it myself nor do i have the money to get it done.:(

Crap davidm beat me to it!

You don't need much in the way of mechanical skills to replace this. If you can read a simple set of instructions, you can do it.

seem like ill be doing mine again.....this is the 3rd one that will be replaced

Wow,small world!Do you ever get over this way?If you do give me a shout.

KK,something tells me by the time i buy you a round trip i could have probably paid to have this done but thanks for the offer man.

what is the easy way avoiding tearing the dash apart??? no one answered this question yet and my kids are starting to freeze...lol thanks if someone can tell me but if not i'll start breaking tabs and possibly cracking the dash in half

There is no avoiding tearing the dash apart.... you have to unbolt the dash to replace the blend door... end of story.....

And if you follow online instructions do yourself a favor and take out the message center and keyboard as well. It makes the job much easier as the left side bolts are easily accessible this way.

you can manually move a lever that may open the door to let the hot air in. you can reach it thru the glove box, its in the left side, the lever will be grey. i wish i could move the lever on mine but i think it to the point that it completely broke off.

The problem with moving the lever is that you don't get full heat according to what I have read.

Here is exactly what I would do......

Remove the center console/shifter trim/radio
Remove the top dash cover
Remove the cluster bezel, message center, and message controls
Undo all the bolts that hold the dash in, there are a bunch on the top, and 6 on the bottom...
Slide the dash back, undo the blend door...

The LOD writeup makes you remove stupid stuff that is a waste of time... mainly the steering column...

Yeah, I didn't drop my column either.

I didn't touch the cluster bezel, message center, and message controls when I did mine two weeks ago....

i agree. i tried to get that mother f'n bolt out forever. then i took it out and it took a matter of minutes.

For me the hardest part was getting the acuator out. if you can turn a wrench and read directions you can do it. And were here to help.
