No A/C...and a hissing noise?

ok first, so i used to search function and im not commin up with anything...

over the winter i was having trouble with the climate control unit [yes the one in the dash, below the radio]... when i would boost the fan above half way with the heat on...all the lights would light up and the screen would go all "alien looking" ...see pic








...now i havnt changed the unit yet...its on my list of things to do... but the heat would still work, and if i played with the "off" button enough, usually the unit would go back to working fine, as long as i didnt boost the fan more than half-way...and yes, the heat worked

sooo..now it warm out and i have no A/C...and a hissing noise!?!

the hissing noise only happens when i first start the heat [then goes away], and its constant when im trying to get some A/C... i get no cold air, feels like the fan only is on... i dont think its the DVVC [or what ever that thing is] because its not like one side is warm and the other is cold, both sides are warm... i just tried the hold "floor" and "off" buttons then hit "auto" and the unit does its 25 sec self-check...but at the end i get the screen showing the jibberish again...just like during the winter...

...im going to check the r-134a press. tommrow at work, and see if its just a recharge...and im gonna get my hands on a new climate control unit...but am i missing something else?? please help... thanks in advance

I remember someone posting this exact problem somewhere else. (Of course, it could have been you.)
I think that the only solution is to replace the DATC module.

thanks joe for taking a stab at this one... i did post something over the winter about the climate control fritz problem...but i didnt know about the a/c problem then... maybe it was me that you recall...how ever i did find another post in my "search" that posed about the "hissing noise" but no one answered his question...

...and by the way i mean DCCV module in my first post, i was rushing lol...

...just for clarification the DATC module is the climate control unit in the dash right [aka the one in my pictures lol]?
