While on vacation I took part in the NMRA/NMCA Superbowl of 'Street Legal' Drag Racing at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL in the "True Street" class. Object of the game was a 30 mile 'cruise' in a DOT legal, licensed and insured 'street car', followed by 3 back to back 1/4-mile runs. The average of your 3 ETs compromised your 'score'. Besides the overall fastest and runner-up there were winners in each 1 second break point up to the 15 second index. Those who were the closest to the even seconds were the winners.
Knowing I could not expect to run anywhere near a flat 13 seconds, I elected to slow the car down and run for the 14 second bracket.
Three time trials gave me 14.13, 14.07 and 14.05 in the heat and humidity.
The final tally of the competitions...
Not bad for a land barge Lincoln.
