So who all here are running or have run nitrous on a Mark VIII before? What kinda kit, wet or dry and which brand?

I plan on running a Zex dry kit. I did alot of research and it was the best option for me.

Zex are good kits. I'm thinking about getting a wet kit in case I want to run the 150 shot down the line, that way I won't have to upgrade the injectors.

I've run a Harris Speed Works dry kit spraying through the MAF on my old 94. Now, my friend runs a HSW wet kit on his 97 LSC. I really see no reason to go with a dry kit (although the Zex is a nice setup on a gen 1, where it's a real PITA to mount a WOT switch.)

Zex dry kit it works nice. easy to use I think now I would go the wet kit way for the same reason you said. I only got the dry kit because the shops I spoke with at the time I was looking said the intake type was not ideal for the wet kits unless direct port. Who knows. Spray the hell out of it.

MediumD, how does your friend like the wet kit? I heard good things about HSW, I am thinking about getting their kit...

In addition to my friend with the 97 LSC, another friend with a Mustang runs a HSW kit. The only problem any of us have had is the Stang guy's pressure gauge decided to leak nitrous out the back of it - of course right after a refill, $40 out the window. However it was probably due to something in his trunk running into it IMO, his trunk is always full of crap. Other than that we have all been happy. The LSC guy is real happy, I always used to pull him (I have gears, he has a stall,) but when the switch is flipped it's a lot different now :p

Did the kit have enough braided hose to install on a Mark VIII or did you guys have to get extra? Also, does your friend use a window switch for his wet kit? No problems of fuel puddling and backfiring?

It came with enough nitrous feed line, and with the solenoids mounted just in front of the pass. cam cover, the fuel feed line and solenoid to nozzle lines. Might be a bit of a stretch if you were to mount the bottle towards the back of the trunk..

He actually has a window switch but has been too lazy to install it. But so far he hasn't had a failure doing it manually (although back in the day without a window switch I accidentally sprayed pretty much at idle, no damage though.) Pretty sure he just sprays through the shifts...

No fuel puddling problems that we know of..

Not speaking from personal experience, only my observations from the track, most of the MN12/FN10 guys have a lot less problems with a Zex nitrous kit.

Just ordered the HSW wet kit with their bottle heater and purge kit. I'm holding off on the window switch for now. I think I should probably lower my shift points and rev limiter on the spray? I'm thinking 6500rpm shifts on the spray? Any suggestions?

Sounds like a good idea. I set mine at 6800 and spray thru the shift. You may not want to due that being a wet kit and no shift kit for the trans. You can always turn the kit off manually at the shifts and turn back on after the shift.

Do you spray right off the line?

That's a bad ass gen 1 Geno! 12.81 on a 100 shot is really moving... what other mods does that gen 1 have?

LMS :
maf,chip,icebox,4:10's
Tranny built to "Jerry" specs
NOS 5115 kit.
That was with over 100k on the engine.
Now with the new engine and true duals I hope to break 12.5 or better.
I may be putting the Headhunter up for sale for anyone who is interested drop me a line.

3 questions, what did your car run NA and how many times did you spray the motor and when did it finally go?

low 14's
about 50 bottles at least
Not on spray...Spray did not blow the motor (I'm pretty sure it didn't help)

Not if you "flash" off the line.
I don't stall off the line,I just punch it at the green.

Doesn't that rpm what your car launchs at anyway with the stall converter??

No the most I can get while foot braking is 2800ish it might be closer to 2500. Not exactly sure any more and it will do the worlds slowest burn out. The converter is called a 3200-3500 but it only flashes to that speed. Brake stall is much lower. My converter is a low buck one off the shelf not custom. As for spraying off the line I have never triied it at that low rpm and also the small street tires I run wouldn't stick. Your car with 4.30 may be tricky getting it to stick with drag tires.
