Hi i've been thinking of getting a lincoln ls for about a month now and i noticed that the 03 ls's have about 30ish more HP than the 02's. My question is can the top end of the engines be swapped along with the ECU to make the 02ls engine into a 03. Sorry if this topic is already covered i've been looking for the info and havnt had any luck as of yet.

I've worked with hondas on engine swaps and i know swapping of that nature is possible on hondas but not sure for the ls. I also understand that comparing hondas and lincolns is like comparing oranges and basketballs. Both round and thats about it

I don't think anyone has dug into this task, Honda engine swaps are pretty easy and this is nothing like it. The 00-02 and the 03-05 + 06 are pretty different and you might have to do some specific modifications like internals and electrical stuff that no body makes for the LS, but I could be very wrong. From what I have seen the most you can do to the LS 3.9 is exhaust, intake, SC(only done 1 time, its the sticky thread on top of the LS forums).

It's really not worth the trouble. It'd probably be easier to just go buy an 03.

Bottom end internals would be okay as far as I can tell. But honestly; the time and money you would have into swapping over the top end of the engine and the entire wiring harness + ECU. If you're going to go to all of that work, pick up a 4.6L w/harness, ECU and trans: it will be just as big of a pain, cost about the same and have a lot more potential.

There were something like over 600 changes between the early and late LS's; a lot of these were in the electrical system. It would be a mind numbing task.
