Today I purchased a '03 LS v8 centennial edition. I did quite a bit of research, in great part from this forum. Running pretty darn good, talked and addressed issues with dealer and was finding he was quite knowledgeable as well about the car. Overall had a great experience.

Centennial edition i believe adds my blacked out grill, and possibly a different size rim but I hadn't checked.

Gosh, I must've read over 200 pages worth of LS forums and all sorts of information. I also read most of the 250 page manual pdf that you guys have on the site.

To be fair, all cars get issues and a used car is obviously going to have bugs, but reading about these cars still led me to buy one. I love RWD, the power (even though I baby cars), the STANDARD features. My list goes on...

So just wanted to say hey and let you know there is another fan of this car on here.

Never heard of a Centennial Edition, perhaps a dealer add-on package? Pictures would be great and now you have me really interested. what size are your rims? The LS only came with 16" or 17" rims.
 
Welcome. Yep, this is a great place for all your LS needs. If you have a question, its most likely on here. and definitely get some pics when u can.

Im dying to know what a centennial package is. not sure what 100 years from a 03' LS would be... Lincoln was started in 1915.

This centennial edition....it doesn't mean you have a add on soft top does it?
 
cent edition because Ford was in 1903...ill assume the cent edition just included the two badges they have on my car...no actual 'features' lol....

Soft top....lol, let's hope not. Those are horrible looking LS's IMO. I've seen 2 in person and they definately do not capture the essence of an LS.

Anyway, welcome to LVC. PICS please! I want to see the centennial edition too
 
So far, whenever i show somebody my car the word 'damn' promptly exits their mouth...is this a normal problem for LS's or is there a recall?

Driving a black gen2 LS will most certainly garnish some attention. Though as you will learn there is varying levels of "damn" which will exit peoples mouths. There is normal "damn" and then Andrizzle "DAMN"

Lincoln never produced any "special" edition LSes other than the (IIRC) Premium in 2002, the LSE or LS-E. There were different arrays but no Centennial, Sport ("sport" was an array or package), Special Edition, Presidential or any such nonsense. The VP for marketing in 2000 (Jim Rogers) said he would break the legs of any dealer that put one of those stupid "carriage tops" on an LS. Dealers had orders that they could mess with any of their cars EXCEPT the LS. They were to leave that car alone. No pin-stripes, no vinyl tops... NOTHING! After he left dealers got ambitious and started doing the things they were forbidden to do under Jim. That's when carriage tops and "special" editions started popping up. Some of these "special editions" even had a number plaque on the dash to make it look official.

The tragedy of it all......

Yea...You should have been there. It was at our first LLSOC Mania event (Lincoln sponsored it close to their old PAG Headquarters in Irvine, CA). He was there, the suspension engineer (Jonothon Crocker) was there and a few others. There were probably 30 or 40 of us LS owners there from all over. They had an autocross course set up and a couple of "drivers" to take us on the professional course. I still have the video and watch it when I need inspiration!

Anyway, Jim wanted us to give him the names of any dealers selling the carriage top LSes (we had already seen one or two) so he could hake a personal visit. I guess he would get the bat locally ;):eek:

Pin stripes on the LS are sooooo wrong. Makes me think of a Maxima or something. Gross.

My Silver Birch 2006 had maroon pin stripes when I bought it. Fortunately it was tape and hadn't been on long. It peeled right off, thankfully!
 
The Cent badge is on both sides and looks to be in the same spot (and distances), but yea I can believe that there were not any Centennial lincolns because 1-It is lincoln, not ford even though the companies are together, 2-i tried as well looking up this and have not found anything indicating they did any cent versions of ford products other than like 4 ford cars and maybe some trucks...

Either way i dont care, and since most people wouldn't know that fact it's fine by me if my friends and strangers think its some special crap..lol

I guess real cent cars had some book thing and maybe a jacket, idk, maybe a pat on the back with the purchase...different leather seat..

That front grille is a "McLaren" grille, aftermarket and very rare.

damn, your in luck, :shifty: I have a 03 centennial grill i'll be happy to trade you for yours. it would complete the look of your special addition LS. it has the centennial chrome on top and centennial black on the bottom. :D
