New system on the way

Damn, i paid under half that for my subs, box, and amp.

3 mtx 10's 1800W in a leather covered ported box and a autotek sm1 1500W amp. Sounds fantastic!!!!

When I started digging through that thread I thought, he could have bought an old ass van or something and done the same thing without ruining a nice car. Then again thats what he wanted and was going for, still good looking work.

My current system consisting of 2 Image Dynamic Id's, Kole Audio Q-1920 amp, and each driver having a ported 2.0 cu. ft. enclosure is a real pounder. Only paying $200 for the subs and amp, and about another $75 in box making material and wiring, and lasting well over years now, I'm going to stick with the same brand and upgrade the amp.

Turns out I won't be saving much room however, the driver is about 1 cu. ft. alone and needs 2 cu. ft. to go with it. So my box is looking closer to 3-3.25 cu. ft. down from 4. Saving a little bit of space anyway. Gaining a little space, a much more efficient amp, and a driver that will be able to hit lower and harder. Might not be as loud since I'm dropping down to one but it will sound so much better.

Holy cheetos!!!! Check your driver displacment again, I highly doubt its 1 cuft. My 60 lb 12 xl is .19 cft.

Just checked the displacement for the link you provided and its .12 cuft. There should be no reason to go over 3. Your max ported recomendation is 2.72, so "theoretically" a 2.84 cuft ported enclosure is max.

Typo, you are correct, just took a look at the spec. sheet I have below. I had input from some of the guys there from a couple years back. Gotta dig that up as well. This site was offline for a little bit due to the company disbandment.

I'm either a stalker or just read it

I haven't look at my own sig in a while, I thought I posted a pic a while back that showed them and someone remembered that faint detail, my bad.

So they are set to arrive tomorrow. I've been doing a boatload of research on the box design, can't seem to find the perfect one.

Anyways, was wondering if anyone ever took the plate and stuff off behind the rear flip out cup holder/armrest? My friend has a beamer and his is out and he has a port running right up to it? Don't know if there's a way to the trunk through there but just thought I'd ask some of you guys. I'm stoked.

i have seen a couple of guys on here just cut that area away and run the port through there...ill look to see if i can find the thread

Thanks. I can search but it"s not that important to me really. Wanted to know if anyone currently/recently did it that is all.

You have to go at it with a sawzall or similar IIRC. If I were to do that, I would also make a speaker cloth insert so it would still look somewhat nice.

I would just take the stock subs out and use those as portholes.

If it takes a sawzall I'm out. I don't think it's worth hacking up a perfectly good seat for it. I was just weighing my options, plus I prefer a clean looking back seat rather than having the arm rest folded out.

There's times where I need to take the system out and I don't want to go without a wee bit of bass while they're out so I'm probably going to keep them in. Thanks for the suggestion however.

It finally came today and I'm so excited I might just have to take my pants off. It's one heavy mofo compared to the other two I have.
