New struts!

Considering the LS doesn't have struts....... The LS has coil-over shocks. The only "specialty" tool need is a spring compressor. It took a friend and me just over an hour to change all 4 shocks.

Wow that fast, an hour. I think I might just do this myself then. I'll probably tackle over spring break.

Im in a dilemma. They can only get Motorcraft in by next Tuesday, and the only struts they can order now are Sensatracs with lifetime warranty on them. Are these good? Im really thinking about cancelling, because they wait till I dropped the car off and get a ride home, to call me and tell me they can't get the parts in till next week, and the parts they can get today are not what I wanted, and won't be done till tomorrow. How are the Sensatracs?

I just call them struts because that is what the part name is listed as..It says lincoln quick STRUT..even on the ford parts website they are listed as struts. To op just tell the shop you dont want to wait and get your car back ..Order 4 quick "struts" or quick shocks for $280 ,and those are motorcraft parts too,put them on yourself and save yourself $1100 .. Then order yourself some brand new rims and tires ..sounds like a plan to me.

Man, Cancel that sh!t. Not only because they waited to call you but because they're fu<King you in the a55 too.

I had the SensaCraps on for about 6 months. They sucked and I returned them and went with OEM. IMHO, they are still the best choice; unless you order custom shocks for big dollars!

Where? I have googled for hours and have yet to find a shock/spring ("quick strut/shock) assembly for the LS, let alone $280 for a set. I found what they call a quick strut, but the spring doesn't come with the shock so you'll still need a spring compressor to transfer the spring.

you didnt see the link that i put up in this thread.. they are 65.00 each and the part number is ast25...Just google that part number..I found it by googling it ..I typed in lincoln ls quick strut ..but if you type in the part number it will be easier for you.

maybe you are using a different google than i am but anything i type it shows numerous pages of them..you could have put the struts on and had time for dinner in as much time as you searched on google .lol

They just use a generic picture in their photos..As said earlier in this thread..So you just have to read a little

I'd be willing to buy the "quick struts" but I want to oem sport shocks so I'll wait.

one guy responded and said he didn't like them...

What did he not like about them is what im asking. Theres a bunch of posts here saying, "sensa crap" or monroe's are junk, but nobody lists any detail in why they are junk. Do they ride rough? Are they prone to breaking easily? Why are they crap?

I see your point. Either way, if you haven't done so, get your car back. The money you'd save doing this yourself you could get a REALLY nice spring compressor to do the job, or get a cheap one(like $15) and save even more.

They're crap because they turn a superior handling LS into a wallowing land yacht!

whoa...please elaborate.

So the ride is soft and comfortable? If so, I don't mind that too much. Im not much of a speedy driver anyway.

The LS is already a smooth ride yet firm at the same type.

do you want a mushy town car type ride??

I never really rode in a town car. If it doesn't bounce on every slight bump in the road, and wobble at high speeds, and last, im game. I also like the lifetime warranty on them. I also enjoy the fact that this was a lesson learned, and that the car is already in the shop getting it's repairs.

If these struts are as bad as you guys say they are, and if they ever break on me...i'll be sure to purchase the OEM Sport struts next time, and learn to do it myself. I appreciate everyone's help here at LVC :) I love this forum.

Town cars are basically big boats....yes they are a smooth ride because of air but sports handling is out the window.

They are floaty; like a Buick. If you want a floaty ride with body lean in corners, then I guess they're OK. If I want a Buick ride, I'll buy a Buick. I wanted an American BMW and got one with the LS.

Then again, if you want a BMW, you could buy a BMW. The whole point I guess is, i'll take anything that's comfortable over what I have now. The movement in steering wheel at 70mph is killing me, along with every small bump turning into a bouncing frenzy.

Is the ride kind of like the non-sport LS shocks? A bit cushiony and subtle?

I love sport handling(but my shocks are shot because I get float over some bumps), but now I miss my towncar! Such an easy driver, just tap the throttle a little bit and you're on a magic carpet ride doing 80 before you know it because it's so smooth. Brings me back to the first time I drive my mom's town car when I was 15, she yelled at me for getting on the freeway at 75 in a 65. I was used to my dad's suburban with didn't glide up to speed the way that town car did.

Aww.... the memories. :)

But alas, I didn't buy the LS for is luxury smooth ride and the others are right here, the LS suspension wasn't built for, if it was it would have air suspension.
