I want to share a secret I found out today working on my own mark viii. My passenger side seat wouldn't go forward and back all the way without waiting for it to cool down. It would run out of steam very fast and autoglide may put the seat forward but not back. I tried cleaning the bushes in yrs past and cleaning the tracks to no avail. I finally swapped motors and that didn't help in the least. Finally I discovered that the upper brush wire was attached to a brass strip that was sandwiched with another strip that was attached to the wire. It must be a thermal limiter. The motor didn't draw too much current, just didn't have any umph. I could work the motors without it being attached to the gearbox and the middle motor would quit working within 5 seconds. I finally soldered across the brass strip. Put back together and it works wonderful. I'be been putting up with this for 4 yrs now. I haven't seen any posts on it. Not sure if there is danger from motor overheating. One could swap out for another motor thermal overload strip and do some rewiring if it is some concern. Simple fix. Follow other posts for cleaning brushes. Cheaper than another seat track.

Here's a url of working on the motors. I copied one of the pictures and circled the brass strip that needs to be soldered.
