New Paint

3 stage is pearl paint, andrews white mark is base coat, top coat then clear, regular paint is just color plus clear like your black, but the opalescent white pearl is 3 steps to get it to look the way it does.

I've never heard of that. There was pearl in the paint I put on my car and it was mixed in with the base.

I've heard with metallic sometimes painters will rig their gun somehow to give a charge to the matallic flakes but never heard of a '3 stage paint'.

Though, when I shot my car I shot it base then a light dusting for the pearl/metallic so that it will "stand up". This is done directly after shooting though before it cures.
