Guess I should make a noob post, my name is Ali i'm from Lincoln, Ne and just bought an 02 LSE for a daily driver. I've had the car for almost a week now and I love it.
It has some small problems I need to fix, both heated seats dont work, the stock Alpine cd player is jammed, the power mirror switch doesnt work, and the left indicator on the dash doesnt work. But it should all be simple stuff to work on. However I just notice a small oil leak by the front bumper on the passenger side, havent had a chance to look at it but do you guys know what it could be?

Sorry this is the only picture I have as of now :(

As for my Project I have a 1980 Chevy Malibu getting a new beating heart. Swapped in a LQ4 backed behind a TH350 and a 9in for the rear. Its been a long project but hopefully by spring I can start her up.

Oh well its a used car, but hopefully its simple stuff to fix. I'm planning on taking more pictures soon.

Welcome. I fixed the heated seat on mine a few years ago. The element burned open in the driver's seat. I got new elements from ford, I think they were about $19 each. Get a set of hogring pliers and the upholstery comes off without too much drama.

Oil leak up front by the bumper is probably from the fluid cooler. Could be tranny, or hyd fan. Power steering also runs through there but (IIRC) there's no outlet for it on the passenger side. There are three separate circuits through one cooler. Note that steering and hyd fan use standard Dex/Merc tranny fluid, while the tranny uses Merc V.
CD player is a loss. You can do an ipod integration (several threads on here), go aftermarket, or try another from a junker. Most of 'em out there are jammed - get a guarantee that it'll work before you buy one!

Nice malibu. How's the EFI swap going? What controller are you using?

Welcome, and enjoy! You have an adventure ahead.

My powersteering leaks but its more around the wheel area as opposed to the bumper area.. what you have suggested about the cooler is probably correct..

Another option that's really easy to see, which I learned the hard way by being a cheap ass, is the wrong oil filter will leak. The w/ cooler filter is $5 cheaper (for Wix, my brand of choice) than the w/o cooler. I don't have a cooler, so I got the cheaper one. Didn't seal. Leaked slowly. Changed to the correct one at the next fluid change and no lead! Go figure. The w/o cooler is shorter - has to make room for the cooler - but I had expected it to have the same mount. Guess it's just slightly different.
