Hi Everyone!

Long time reader and just bought myself an 02 LS V8 so I figured it was time to join!

Its in pretty good shape and I got it for a good price but I am having trouble getting comfortable in the drivers seat as it wont recline very far.

The buttons and everything work fine but about halfway back the electric recline stops. I can hear a relay or something under the seat kicking out and it doesnt even try to recline farther. Almost like it hits a limit switch or something? I got the seat back off and checked some connections and such but have not found the problem. I was going to take the motor out and try to wind it forward and but it back in to recline it farther since I will never drive with the seat back up that far. or else just running a second switches to power it back farther. Just wondering if anyone has any good tips as to where to start before I start fiddling with it too much?

Thanks everyone!

Where are you at in northern mn?

If I were you, I'd just find a used seat and replace the whole thing.

I live in Two Harbors, about 20 miles up the shore from Duluth.

Wonder what a used seat goes for?

Just needs to recline farther....
Limit Switch?
Motor?
Module?
Controls?
Anyone have a wiring diagram?

I was just in Duluth last night for brewfest. Well, brewfest was at black bear, but I stayed in dtown.

The problem is NOT with the motor, it is the sensor for the memory positioning. When the Driver's Seat Module is calibrated it runs all motors to their stall positions and monitors the sensors to only allow movement within the range recorded at calibration. If a sensor fails to register at any time the DSM will stop movement.

Thanks for the great info! I appreciate it! Is this sensor located within the seat track assembly somewhere do you know? I will have to check wiring diagrams and chase a specific wire but none are chaffed from what I can tell (well a little on the loom but not into the wire).

*Update- After fiddling with it the drivers seat will not fully move to the rear either. Will a DSM reflash fix this or is it a fault at the sensor?

Pektel- I see you have a MN LS meet that looks like a good time, and your from "Up North". Where abouts?

Grand rapids. About an hour west of Duluth.

And yes, our meets are pretty fun. Everyone is invited. Keep a lookout for a spring meet :D

The sensors are attached to the motors(for the front tilt, rear tilt and horizontal motors and can be removed) but I have'nt seen the recline
motor sensor to know if it's built into the motor or if it is the same as the others.

I have heard of the DSM malfunctioning like this, but only the dealership's NGS tester will tell if the DSM can be reflashed or if it needs to be replaced. The sensors you can check youself with an OHM meter or if you don't really need memory seats you can bypass the DSM for a regular power seat.

Just an update on this in case anyone else has this problem.

I took the car to the dealership and plugged in with the IDS.

I tried reflashing the DDM (Under programmable module installation) and that didnt do anything but I ran the seat to its mechanical limits with the DSM PIDs and then went through the process of programming the DDM under programmable module installation and it works perfectly now. :D

(EDIT) I ran it to the rear mechanical limits since the seat wouldnt move rearward anymore and programmed it at those limits.
