Well, officially the owner of a 2000 Lincoln LS V8...

Picked it up from a co-worker who had it sitting for some time. He said the fan didn't work, driver windows weren't working, dead battery, two flat tires, & REALLY dirty. It sat in a car port, so out of the sun at least.

So I agreed to do some of the work on it, put an electric fan that he bought (will end up replacing that one), removed the PITA pump, had to hang the windows up till I get the regulators, & replaced the battery. Had to replace the tensioner it was cracked, & obviously replaced the belt.

Right now, it runs, a little rough from the stale gas. Heat is intermittent (looked around the forums & figured out what it pretty much is...aux pump, idle is cool, 2k there's heat), going to do a tune-up on it, order the new chain tensioners & replace the gaskets while I'm there. Pretty much trying to take care of some of the issues I've read on here, would like to get this car in a better state than what the previous owner left it in.

So..time to get my hands dirty pretty soon. & then continue with my other project :D

When I first got it home...still dirty

Welcome. Looks good. Need that heat in Ft Riley. Just there two weeks ago. 17 degrees. Glad I went to Texas after that.

Welcome to the adventure!

Word of advice: it may be the DATC, and not the aux pump itself. My DATC simply wasn't grounding the pin for the aux pump's relay. I found that out *after* I grabbed another pump, though.
So if you want a freshly rebuilt aux pump, let me know!

doesn't look too bad for being dirty :)

from your description, I expected to see it on crutches :D

Thanks everyone. I know it may have seemed like I described it worst than it looks, but I wish I took a pictures when I first went to see it. I washed it today, looks a lot better, but def needs a detail. Also gave it a tune-up, VCG are still good, no oil down in the plug area (but will be changing them when I do the adj). Fuel filter was horrible, car runs a lot smoother. Glad things are working out so far.

Thanks for the advice, I will let you know. PM a price if you don't mind. Thanks.

If you do the chain tensioners, order the updated metal ones from chrisforeignparts on eBay. The entire kit is model HTK100. It is worth the cost if u are truly going in that far. If you are not able to verify how often the oil has been changed, spend the money and buy the timing kit. The plastic tensioners do not like sludge at ALL and it will be a small price to pay in order to get longevity out of a 2000 model. I know because I have one. :)

Good looking car!!! Enjoy it.
