Hi Guys

I have a 2002 LS V8 with 108K miles on it. I am amazed at the condition of this car, no door dings, interior looks like new, paint perfect (parchment). I love this thing.

I have little knowledge of the car besides what a carfax could give me, which was precious little. One thing it did say was the car had a major service at 90K. I tried to get more info from the dealer but they have gone belly up. It has a few problems (below) that I have already fixed, with the help of this forum saving me a lot of trouble and time.

I have changed the sway bar bushings (no clunk now), replaced a rear wheel bearing (silent now), and changed all the fluids and filters. Put in new JBL speakers (stereo this weekend, with bluetooth handsfree).

I ordered plugs and coils (from Global Auto before I joined this forum, but they look right so far) to do this basic maintenance.

Here is the thing: the motor runs great, no misses, no hesitation, nothing. I don't want to put new plugs and coils in this thing if it doesn't need them. Is there any way to tell if they are the original plugs and coils? I heard from the dealer about a "paint spot" but he was none too specific, and the guy is only right half the time anyway.

Recommendation? Change them anyway? Or what?

Thanks for any help!

It has 108k on it. Trust me, the coils have been changed, because all of the originals have died LONG AGO! :p Keep the ones you have, because the ones that are in there will probably die as well. Spark plugs are good to change every 50K anyway, so even if they've been done before, changing them again will only help.

I had my local FLM dealer run my VIN through their system to see what was done on my car and it showed that 4 of the coils and 4 spark plugs on one side were replaced and all of this was done under warranty. So if your coils were replaced by the dealer at some point their is a good chance the corresponding plugs were too.

Any reputable FLM dealer can pull this information up for you.
