NEW high hp mods for the LS

what the hell is "dynamism" and why do i want to gain 30% of it?

thats a new one on me.

i have new cats on my car... I took a prebent 45deg piece of pipe and welded bungs for my O2 sensors. work great!

I don't mind keeps my catalyst converter I just want some good headers. I got ppl stapling my balls with a damn 3000-6000 dollar quote for headers on my car...that's gay.....but then again...noone else as I've heard yet has made any....

here is the problem with doing headers and not cats...

think of your exhaust as a chain. the first link is the exhaust valves in the heads, then the headers (exhaust manifold), cat(s), resonator, muffler, and the unspoken is the piping itself. If you drop the money and make your headers, but leave the rest, your exhaust is only going to flow as much as the most restrictive part.

there is more to it, but that is the simplified version. headers arent worth the money if you arent going to do the rest.

Ahh good to know....

....Now question is, what gains would I be getting for modifying my Cats and what can I do within legal restrictions....

fun thing is Cats are worth BANK once the price of Palladium goes back up to 1000 bucks an oz

Right now it sucks cause Platinum (Palladium's daddy) Is at 900 bucks an oz when it was 2500 an oz before the market crash last year....

Dude you are random as hell. WTF does the price of Palladium and Platinum have to do with horsepower and modifying your exhaust? Anyways, does removing the cats add hp? I was under the impression that it did nothing but pollute the environment and make for a louder car. Also won't it make it so the car doesn't pass emissions?

It all depends on how restrictive your stock cats are, and what shape they are in. Of course, removing a stock catalytic converter will increase performance. Coming from the SVT Contour world, lots of those guys will punch out the main cats for a little extra HP/TQ. It's cheaper than buying headers, but doesn't net you the same power increase. From what I've gathered from some of the more respected members on these boards, who have actually done the research and not talking out of their ears, the stock 'LS exhaust manifolds aren't a very big restriction with these cars, and there would be little benefit(at least for the money) in getting headers. This is all relative, as even if there were headers being produced, they'd more than likely be in the $1000+ range for us.

To answer your question, TDUB, properly removing the catalytic converters MAY produce an increase in HP/TQ. If you live in a state that requires you to pass emissions, you may be able to pass if you do MIL eliminators, or you can tune for the missing cats, so you don't get a CEL. This also depends on whether you have any additional cats, after the manifolds. You'll just have to worry about passing a visual inspection if you pass the sniffer test.

I know a shop in fort lauderdale where these people is going to make my custom made exhaust system. They say can also make custom made headers. I will contact them again soon for a quote for headers in my car.

Hopefully sitting on the toilet, cuz you're gonna sh*t when they tell you...

Kooks told me like $2000

Jesus christ.

Well heres the upside - kooks makes great products, they use the best materials, and they build products that produce power and results. 2000$ really isnt all that bad considering the work they will put into it and the material your getting. Your gaurenteed something that will flow.

heres the bad side - 1 7/8th stainless vette headers are 1200$. And uhhh in case you havent noticed these cars arnt corvettes. In my Eyes you would see a 15-20hp gain. not worth it for 2 grand...

All of you would be better off putting the money it would take to do headers into a port and polish head/4 angle valve job and camshafts.

well I decided to call them and they gave me a quote not looking at the engine bay yet (only the exhaust for my new setup) for $600/pair for my V6 and all stainless steel setup. I will try other 2 shops around and see what they do come with.
I have a 3 leads for CNC 6000 aluminum UDP (under drive pulley). I will reach them next week.

my 2.5 exhaust piping was 250$. mufflers were like 70$ a piece, x pipe was 52$ and the tips were around 60$

Did you ever find anything else out on these?

Gave me a new idea of doing a port & polish on my exhaust manifold.......anyone else done this and gotten a good gain in HP/TQ?
