I just bought an Estate Green 2000 Lincoln LS V8 with 128k miles for $2,300. Car had been in a collision and there is front end damage but I couldn't pass up a running LS for that price. I had been eyeing this model car since I first saw one in 02. The car test drove nicely, will need shocks and brakes soon though.
I took possession of the car the day that I was to drive from Bay Area, CA to Eugene, OR and it was quite an interesting trip. About an hour in I got a low fuel warning followed by the car shutting off a second later. I put 1 gallon in to get me to the gas station and I expected to fill 17 gallons but the pump shut off at 15 gal. Then up near Mt. Shasta I get a flashing CEL and was able to make it up to Oregon with a misfiring cylinder.
As I have been reading these forums for some time I figured it might be a coil issue and I ordered one off ebay for 20 bucks. Thanks to you amazing people on this website, yesterday, I was able to replace a coil and rear window regulator. No more rough idle and my power is back. CEL is still on but I think it might need a few cold starts to reset. I have never worked on cars before. Changing a fuse on my Crown Vic was the most I'd ever done. I figure that buying this car will help me become mechanically inclined =)
I'll post some pics of the condition of the car tomorrow
