New brakes and rotors are squealing!!!!

Grease em

I'm 58 and we never greased them back in the 60's, now you do...strange for me to accept but that's the way it is. Did you remove the caliper pins and regrease and don't forget to grease the brake pad ears, cause they slide back en forth. hey coat the entire back of the pad with grease. Yes surprised me too!
Look on youtube, some great advice. Another thing, are your pads semi metallic? If so, then they are gonna squeal no matter what. Get ceramic pads, I always get the NAPA brand, the adapter one, they call it. Once they settle in, no squeal.

The caliper pins are fine. I greased them when I originally changed out the pads and I rechecked them today and they're fine. I greased the pad ears and the backs.

My pads are semi-metallic. They're Wearever Silvers. But, again, I've been putting Silvers on my last few cars without any squealing or screeching. It's just something with the LS.

Great advice here on this thread! I also suffer from the squeal. Bought my LS recently and noticed squeal during rush hour traffic stop-and-go. Thought they seemed to be fading a bit as well, so as part of my initial maintenance, I had the front rotors and pads replaced.

I used the NAPA premium rotors - no slotting or drilled offered, just regular premium rotors. The Ultra Premiums (they have a black hub on them, vs. regular silvery hub, supposedly made of a superior alloy for hardness) were not available without ordering, so I settled for what they had. I also got the Adaptive One pads, supposedly great pads. Adaptive Ones are Ceramic, made by Rayloc. They Material Safety sheet says 'RAYLOC ASBESTOS FREE CERAMIC DISC BRAKE LINING MATERIAL', so I guess that is the 'Raybestos' that people here have made positive comments about. Rayloc is owned by Genuine Parts, parent of NAPA Auto Parts stores.

That being said, after my fronts were done, the braking performance improved, but the squeal is still there. I trust my mechanic did things right. He said back brakes had 50% wear left. When I can scrape up the funds for the backs, I will put the same parts on there and reply back to this thread with a result, hopefully a result of no more squeaks! So annoying...
