I couldn't find many choices for kits that would work with the iPhone 3G thru the factory radio. I found the option with PIE electronics but it cost a bit more to accomplish the same thing. I checked in BestBuy and found that they sold integration kits for specific models but it only covered the LS 2000 thru 2003 and I have an 05. The company that makes these kits also sell a universal kit which integrates an FM modulator in-line with the factory stereo. To my surprise it works out great! No static what so ever due to a power switch which overrides which ever station it is configured for. The sound is crystal clear. The only drawback is that I can't control the ipod portion of my phone via the controls on the radio but that is not a big deal to me as the PIE adapter would not have let me do this either. The kit also charges the phone as well and was well worth the 130.00 along with a free install which took all of 15mins to do. The kit is called the iSimple TranzIt.

the tranzit does work pretty good since it does use a hardwired modulator, and it does charge all ipods, and there is a video out (even though most customers wont have anything to connect it too) that can be connected to any screen that has a standard RCA input. my only complaint with it is that even with the levels turned all the way up(which it is by default), it is a little quiet, definitely quieter than a regular fm station.

Yeah, I wish it were a little louder too. Streaming with Pandora, it is a bit quiet but nothing drastic; the ipod portion seems to be louder though.

Where does it plug-in? I could use this since the PEI stuff doesn't work with 03s that have the in-dash 6-CD changer, if in fact it's compatible

If it is like other FM modulators I have seen, you plug it in where the car's antenna goes to the back of the radio, connect the cars antenna to the fm modulator, connect it to a power source and tuck everything away.

I bought one for 30 bucks and it works good, except if the car is on, it has a whistle noise that mimics the rpm's of the car, although I think it might just do it with the tv tuner and not an ipod installed. I got it for the tv tuner I installed so it's not like a can use it while driving since digital signal sucks on the go. It was a really easy install. I tapped into the radio's switch power and installed a switch to turn it on whenever I need to.

works exactly like Alax explained and it also charges the ipod/iphone (the phone will recognize it as a dock). I don't get the 'ground-loop' whistling sound that he described. Mine is very clear and i'm very satisfied. I need to test it on a road trip to see how well it will do. The other good thing is if you have a navigation app such as Navigon, or xGPS(if jailbroken); the turn-by-turn will lower the audio to announce the directions and then return by to the normal sound level. I'm very happy with it....

i will also add, that you can use this to install an 3.5mm AUX input INSTEAD of the ipod cable if you would like (non ipod users, zune, blackberry...)

the box comes with a flush mount aux input (all you need to do is drill a small hole somewhere and plug it with the aux in adapter) and an aux cable, the aux cable is junk however and usually doesnt last more than a month, but it is a neat option none the less.
