well just bought another lincoln, this one used (had a towncar b4) and well i think i got spoiled on this on, come to find out it was the ultimate, and wow, its an amazing car, 11k 05 v8, everything on it, for a amazing 19k w/ warranty (obviously) left on it....dont think the dealer knew what they had and when i said i was gonna drive 5 hours away to get it, it was a done deal. I had a few questions tho and have been lurking the boards for the last 2-3 hours.

The car has the nav system and was wondering does it in fact have the ability to play dvd's? i was looking in the ops manual and i saw that on a few pictures they had the ability to select dvd....i put a dvd in the back and nothing, then put the nav map dvd in and nothing as well, if not, nothings lost

another question was i have a pocket pc (cell phone) and want to hook it up as if it was an ipod does the nav have the plug behind it for this or should i just invest in the fm transmitter?

does anyone have the problem with the squeeky door hinge. i've tightened it down and it still squeeks at being fully open

thanks guys for the help, might do an intake for the car but other than that nothing (if the intake doesnt void warranty, but i think it does so itll be a no go) and its nice to get 24 mpg out of a powerful v8, anyone get better, if so how?

oh and one more thing, my car didnt come with the lincoln card, has anyone ran into a problem getting a new one?

I do not believe so

You need an 'auxilary input adapter' that will add an external input to your unit. many of us use these - www.logjamelectronics.com

that is very good....

congradulations - wish I could find a deal like that around here :)

I recently bought a 2000 V8 at a dealer 49 miles (freeway) from home. I filled up with 91 octane, checked the tire pressure ( 33 psi) and re-set the computer, then drove a mile or two to the interstate. Set the cruise control to 70 and pretty much drove un-interrupted back home (it was after midnight). i got 26.7 mpg which astounded me ! :) . I've been driving the car for about a week and i'm settling in to 22 - 23 mpg, but I also set the tires back to 30 psi cold (recommended on the door jam sticker).

Other that making sure your air filter is clean and always driving downhill, that's all I know about mileage improvement :D Keep in mind that your mileage will improve as you put more miles on it and the engine loosens up a little.

so last night i took my mom and dad out to see the new car and my dad loved it but mom being the female she is couldnt stop saying about how its more than i needed (who cares got a good deal) so she wanted to drive it, and drive it in the SST at that. talk about nerve racking....floored it and was thrown back in the seat (never floored it since i got it 2 days ago) and i started crying inside, my own mom was ragging out my car, go figure....so now my dad is hooked and might get one if it wasnt for the center console (he's a big man and doesnt help provide leg space)

does anyone run reg 89 on their ls8 and daily drive it or use it often? i was talking w/ the dealership (salesman knew the car was a steal) and said that the car would be fine w/ 89 since there werent any places around that had 91. ive gone to 3 different gas stations and everything was 87 89 and 93....funny that i didnt get a 94 rx7 Twin Turbo cause i thought i wouldnt be able to find 93 (requires it)

The Owner's Manual says that 91+ is "recommended," but there was a note to dealers from Ford to remind all 3.9L owners who complained of pinging that 91+ is required. The price difference between 89 and 91 (or 93) really isn't that great, so there's no reason to run 89.

There are some who will tell you that it's OK, but most of us will tell you to buy the right gas; it's OK to go up in octane, but don't go down.

I recall reading that someone had hacked the factory Nav system to play DVDs, but I don't remember if that's accurate or not. You'll have to search, but danged if I know what search terms you should use...

Good times. I got the same car, just about the same deal on mine too. What color is yours? I just got the tranny serviced and new fuel filter, i get 20 (average) mpg and can get 25+ mpg while on the highway.

I have researched and researched this and have tried many things (posted a few of them). Finally I ended up tearing up my NAV unit (thank god for warranties) I would love to find out the hack, but I'm pretty sure the only way to do it is with an external tuner. Please if anyone knows the hack, POST IT.

Congrats Bodyshield on your LS
