neutral safety switch

My friends 98 is doing something weird.Whats happening is his car wont shiftout of park he has to turn off the car and put it in neutral and start it to get it to shift.He also said he keeps blowing fuses i forgot which one it is but he keeps blowing them.Does this have anything t do with the neutral safety switch?

Yep, does sound like the brake on/off aka brakelight switch.

A bad neon ballast can cause the brakelight fuse to blow. I'd unplug the ballast, replace the fuse and see if it happens again.

thats funny because i just put a good used ballast on his car like 2 weeks ago
