neon tailight issues

OK. So, my rear neon doesn't work. I know, big surprise right......I took the unit to a neon sign guy and he tested the bulb, which works. I am getting power to the rear plug under the decklid. I am also getting power out of both wires from the ballast into the light. Is it possible to have a bad ballast but still get the test light to light up? Thanks for your help.

ok you need a ballast....go to markviii.org and click on homepage then go to technical help and youll see a link that says something about the neon click there and get a ballast from glitch it'll run you 100 bucks. Best bang for the buck and the ballast he offers has a glow regulator...ive bought 2 from him and both have been flawless.

if I need a new ballast, why is it getting power OUT of the ballast?

Just because it has power coming out, it doesn't have enough. +1 on the Glitch ballast. I have installed one on another member's car. It is very easy to install as long as you follow the instructions.

Hey Brent, I see you are in Vacaville, I am not too far in San Rafael. Hope you get the ballast issue worked out. I am not sure if Glitch is still making them however. Do let us know if you can get one.
