Neon Failure

So, my neon failed. Whatever, it happens sooner or later on these cars. I had back surgery, waited for a while, got a used factory tested good ballast, installed it, neon still not working

And ideas? I'm not real capable of bending twisting, etc for diagnosis post surgery so If anyone has run into this before, i'd appreciate it.

Your Neon is possibly blown ! I would not rely on the Ballast being good ! Try to find a known good Ballast for testing !

If you have a neon sign company in your area , they could possibly test the Neon !

I keep know good Ballast for testing Neon Lamps , and good Neon lamps for testing Ballasts !

It may take two people but when you first turn on your tail lights if it flashes for a second the ballast is bad. if it does nothing it is the neon tube.
I asume your wires are correct... I just changed my 97.

Also check the headlight switch, my 98s switch has an intermitten short and it makes my neon glitch sometimes

Most common failure is the ballast. But if the neon itself is shorted out it can blow a good ballast. Been there done that.

Is the glitch ballast still available?
