My lincoln ls 05 v6 had a problem with the coil misfiring i fixed the coil a couple weeks ago and now today i go outside to start my car and the car starts but it stalls out its weird. As soon as it starts to try to idle it just stalls. I tryed jumping it but im guessing it isnt the battery because all the electrical stuff starts and the engine actually starts any help will be greatly appreciated

what about spark plugs? or oxigen sensor
or injector cleaning.

does it show a code?

Unplug the MAF sensor and see if it will stay running then.
If it does, that doesn't mean that the MAF is the problem for sure (though it could be). It may mean that you have a big air leak, such as from the PCV hose.

i would think that it shouldn't have a problem keeping running with just one cylinder not working right, it would definitely run like sh!t, but it shouldn't just stall out.

Agreed.

I have seen them stall just after starting when there was a MAF or airflow problem. A fuel flow problem (such as a clogged filter) could also cause it. IAC would be another possibility, but the 05 doesn't have one.

Sorry to hijack, but speaking of MAF sensors.. the dealer tried to sell me on having mine cleaned, saying that there's a visible film on it. I used the much recommended CRC product to clean mine, which does not leave any residue/film behind. Anyway, as our sensors are quite enclosed, is there any way to tell when it's dirty?

Just what you can see on the part that sticks into the airstream, or if you are getting symptoms.

I suspect that the dealer is pushing that and other unneeded high profit services on everyone they see.

sorry im kind of not a gear head but where exactly is the maf sensor and how much most likely will it cost to get that fixed.

Just down the line from the air filter. A wire comes out of it. It's attached by 2 "tamper proof" screws (not sure of their exact name).

Let's not jump to the conclusion that it needs to be replaced (they aren't cheap) even if my little trick works.

I assume that you know where the engine air filter is. The MAF is the electrical part that is in the air tube just after it comes out of the filter. To disconnect it, there is a small (red I think) plastic latch. Pull that out about 1/4" and you will be able to pull the electrical connector off.

+1

I have to agree with Joegr, sounds like a vacuum leak, or something else entirely. How many miles on the car? engine? any mods? If it starts, then electrical sounds ok, then stalls out,,,,,no gas or bad air/fuel mixture?
