I need a RH CAT CONVERTER for my 2000 V8.

If anyone has one for sale?

Has anyone replaced thiers with a CATCO CAT CONVERTER?

Or should I stay with a OEM Ford Part?

Thanks

i replaced mine with magnaflow high flow cats from autoanything.com i paid $68 each for them and i had my mechanic cut the old ones out, weld the new ones in.

You need to talk to who's going to install it for you and get their feelings about replacing both converters if only one is bad. In some states, it's illegal to replace a cat that hasn't failed...and there are strict regulations about when you can do such a thing. It's a bunch of BS for the most part, but it does exist. A guy who I have used for 30 years to do my exhaust bending for me refused to touch my cats.

Yea I took it to dealer to get a fukll diagnostic to see whats up with the car,, its a 2000 V8 Sport,, have had it 1.5 yrs with no problems till bout 2 mnths ago.

One thing they told me was my right side cat was leaking a fluid thats in there, blah blah,,lol they cant be repaired only replaced, so now I am in need of a OEM RH CAT.

$68? thats crazy Dealer quoted me 445$ for a cat,, and best oem i found online was from Catco, at $170.

why the Magnaflows so much cheaper?

because the dealer replaces a whole sectionof the exhaust, not just the cat and if they only replaced the cat they would still mark it up.

I've had that experience many a time.

as for the shop of your choosing only being willing to replace one cat, The rule seems to be that a cat must show some damage inorder for the cat to be replaced. So the last time I had a bad cat on one side, I just 'worried' the heat shield off the other side. Then I had to "damaged or malfunctioning" cats.

So 00 slow,, what difference u notice with the Magnaflow cats?

i am better off changes both cats with Magnas,, than one cat with a oem at 179$,, crazy

There is no fluid in the Cat  that dealer is stupid.

How many miles do you have on your car.

Cats are covered under federal mandated warranty of 8 years 80,000 miles as well as the PCM/emmision control module.

The limit for legal replacement varies state by state, some are 50,000 and others are 80,000, but they all allow replacement for damaged cats. If they are undamaged and under your state's limit fugeddabout replacing them, it's next to impossible to find a shop that will do it.

Trust me im no mechanic but I know theres no damn fluid in the cat,,lol told him he was a prik , didnt go over to well for him.

This is the same dumbazz mechanic that shoved his finger thru my message center buttons than turned around and added that to my estimate at a cost of 150$ to fix,,lol

thanks for that link LT38! i'm going to print that out and bring it with me next time i go to the dealer because for some reason the guy there gave me a hard time about replacing the cats, even though i passed CA emissions tests by only 1 point and the smog checker said it would absolutely fail by next year. isn't that proof enough the emission systems needs repair? not sure what else i need to do to get my dealer to do this work.

Catalytic Convertors and PCMs are covered 8 years 80,000 miles. Federal Law. It does not vary from state to state.

Don't disagree about the WARANTEE, but it's illegal to REPLACE them if they are undamaged and the vehicle is under a certain milage. The mileage minimum for legal replacement of cats varies from state to state. That said, I don't ever recall hearing of someone enforcing the statutes.

damaged is a term that is very open to the mechanic and owner.
The last time I had a catalyst replaced I "helped" the other side have damage by worrying off the last two spot welds on heat shield of the catalyst, that was good enough for the muffler guy.

second this rule only applies to the shop mechanic and not you so if you were to buy a replacement pipe from say magnaflow or some other's who can say that you illegally replaced your catalyst?
