I am not sure how it works. I am here in ny, and I am looking at a car in pa from a dealership. now the cars going for 18,400. maybe talk them down a bit. lets say I get the car for 18. now I'd have to pat taxes from pa right? but I couldn't get an all inclusive deal for tax title and reg cause its out of state.. so I'd have to bring it back here to ny and get it reg and insured. and pay taxes in ny on 18 grand also.. so in reality if I buy out of state car I'd be paying double taxes right? or do I have this totally wrong. someone who knows about this can you please help

I live in MD and bought my Mark in WV. The only thing I paid the dealer for, aside from the car itself, was a fee for the WV temporary tag. I also had to insure the car and provide my policy number before they were legally allowed to issue the tag. I paid all the other fees (tax, title, registration) to Maryland when I got it registered.

Of course each state is different, but AFAIK you only pay taxes to the state where you are actually registering the car.

You should only have to pay tax for NY not PA. When I purchased my 95 Mark VIII in SC. I had all the information necessary and brought my WI plates so I didn't have to purchase a SC temp plate to drive the car home. Save a few $100's.

Seeing you are buying from a dealer you will have to see what the dealer is willing to do. After making your deal talk to the sales person and see what they are willing to do about plates.
