Need some help! SST

I just bought a 2001 Lincoln Ls V8 with the sport shift transmission. The problem is I can't put the transmission in first gear; I can't go lower than second gear, but I can shift through all the other gears with no trouble. Anyone knows what could be the problem here?

That's normal for your model year.

In '00-'02 LS's the SST will only manually shift down into 2nd gear, showing 2 on the indicator.

BUT....

If you press the accelerator more than 75% during a standing start, the transmission will automatically start in 1st gear and upshift into 2nd.

This was done for MPG reasons and changed in on the GenII '03+ LS's.

Torrie did a tune for me that included a fix so that I can grab first in my 02 LS.

i can put it in the first gear when i press the accelerator more than 75% during a standing start,


My transmission will automatically start in 1st gear and upshift into 2nd so i trust T MAN
