need some help: hi/low impedance adapter

Before I start, I SEARCHED, google and lvc. I don't currently have extra money for a touch screen head unit and I really don't want my single din in the LS, so my cousin gave me a hi/low adapter that he wasn't using. I have an amp and sub in the car, but the sub is runnin off the aftermarket amp which is in place of the factory amp (I blew the factory amp) and is not hitting anywhere near as hard as the factory setup. Anyone kno how to get the sub bumpin with a hi/low adapter. It has 4 wires (right/left +-) and two rca inputs.

to use the high/low adapter, you would have to have the factory amp in there so that you could use the adapter to "cut down" the amplified sound

the speaker wires for the adapter tap into the speaker wires between the amp(factory) and the subs(factory), then the RCA's plug into the aftermarket amp.

since you dont have the factory amp there is no amplified sound to "cut down"

you would be better off soldering some RCA's on to the factory signal wire, and plug that into the new amp

My rca's on the adapter r female. That's input, right? My whole sound system is f*kn stupid since I blew out my factory amp. Some ppl told me I could wire it straight to the speaker wires also. But idk. Thanks for the input

it has female outputs so that you can connect one side of an RCA cable to it and hook the other end up to the new amp

right. male/female has nothing to do with which way the current is flowing.

If I were running an aftermarket amp/sub off otherwise factory equipment, I would use a line out converter. But I think what 1LoudLS is referring to does the same thing.

So, I tapped into the right rear speaker wires and it didn't work that way. So my hopes got gunned down lol. I wish I had a junkyard near me w/ an ls so I can get another factory amp lol

yea, the radio might have a HPF for the door speakers since they are so small (it does have a LPF for the subs) and that might be taking out all the bass from the speakers.

nut sure here, just geussing.


you could always solder a set of rca cables right on to the factory signal wires, they would be right in the back at the amp harness, not quite as easy, but it works good
