Hi all .

I'm looking to purchase valve cover gasket along with coils for my v6 02 LS all the links well some that are on the old threads about what coils to purchase what not either don't work or aren't available any more.

Can someone please shed light my way. I am in need of 6 coils along with 6 spark plugs and valve cover gaskets with the extra stuff I need which I don't know of.

Is there anything else I'm missing and that I should take care of while I'm down there changing the gaskets?

Valve Cover Gaskets: XW4Z-6584-DA & XW4Z-6584-EA
Spark plug well gaskets: XW4Z-6C527-BA, you need 2 of them.
Coils: 2W4Z-12029-A
Plugs: AGSF-32F-SM

You'll need the upper intake gaskets too, but the part number is different depending on when your 2002 was built.

I'm pretty sure that all LSes were made at the Wixom Assembly Plant.
The date (month/year) should be on the sticker on the door.

Correct on both accounts. Probably the most distressing thing I saw when watching them build the LS was seeing the guy drive the car off the line and right onto a dyno. He then floored-it for almost a minute! YIKES!!!! So much for breaking-in an engine delicately!!

So you saw the LS's on the line @ Wixom? that's cool, I always like to watch documentaries on assembly lines, would have loved to see the LS being built!

Breaking in an engine delicately is the absolute wrong thing to do based on what I think I know.

sounds really nice to watch them be assembled. i was searching all lasting for a video anything like it but couldn't find anything mind to share anything if you have a link that the video is uploaded already free to watch?

thanks for the help guys. i will start ordering little by little and check that door sticker

I don't think we took a video. I'm certain we weren't allowed to.... I can't even find our group photo. Not only was the factory tour cool, so was the caravan back there. We had 4 LSes leave The People's Republik and meet 6 more in Denver. We picked up 5 more in Iowa and we all cruised into Wixom together. What fun was the summer of 2003.........

I thought the whole point of breaking it in gently was so that IF there was a problem, you could catch it before it causes more damage...

this would be different if you're building an engine yourself by hand VS quickly building and shipping off complet motors

it everything was put together right and all the parts tolerances were good, then it shouldn't be a problem. hell with it being built then shipped, they probably want any little problem to be known as soon as possible!

I also though the engine factory tested everything out before they ship them out?

Yes, 1 of everything, 2 of the spark plug well gaskets, and 6 of 1X4Z-9H486-AA for the upper intake gaskets.

Be sure to torque the valve covers down evenly, otherwise it'll leak like a mother.

Thanks do I need anything else like delectric grease is it called? I'm suppose to purchase all products / items and my step farther will do the job with me thanks

Yes, you need dielectric grease. I'd also have a can of brake parts cleaner on hand, and some gasket sealer.

Thanks a lot guys do I need any O rings? I've seen pictures of other gaskets in other threads and seen many O rings just want to make sure that all that is above is all I need

What's the best gasket sealant I can use? Any suggestions to the best brand?
