Obsolete. That's what I was told by the dipstick at my local Linc-Merc dealer. I called about ordering the parts for a 1-2 accumulator upgrade, he found the part numbers I gave him in his 'puter, but said he could not get the parts... obsolete, no longer available he said. IMO, he just didn't want to bother.

At 35k when I traded for it a few weeks ago, my '94 had a shudder in OD pulling a slight grade... it had sat in a backyard several years + the trans. had never been serviced.

After much reading here, I went ahead and put in a 2 oz. tube of Dr. Tranny... shudder went away so I figure the TC, etc. is OK and all I need is Mercon V, new filter... and a 1-2 upgrade while I'm in there.

I called Maxx (his ad is on RH side of this page), and the man is knowledgeable, helpful, and he patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions. My 1-2 parts will be here by Friday, installed that night, and if everything goes well, Easter road trip on Saturday. yeeehaaa

Now, I know all the long-timers here already know this, but for the noobs like me:

Maxx.

is.

da MAN!

That Dr. Tranny is amazing stuff. I had a off n' on shudder at some grades aswell, put it in a 1.5 weeks ago and it's been fine since. Shudders are very annoying, best $7 i've spent on my car in awhile.

I got my 1-2 piston and springs from my local Ford parts dept. next day delivery for right at $65 and they were the upgraded parts. They didn't fix the shudder because it ended up being the TC. Most shudder problems are the TC but it did seem to drive a bit better for a little while until the TC just gave out.

I ended up giving that trans away with the updated accumulator and springs during clean up of the garage after the fire. I thought about it afterwords and wished I had taken the 2 springs and accumulator out.

Too late now...

Those parts are obsolete. The parts guy just didnt want to look up what that particular part number changed to, because there are "revised" parts that are available.

Draining the T/C is highly recommended when doing the upgrades.

Thanks... that's already in the plan. I have 14 qts. of Mercon V, filter, and Autolite 764 plugs... just waiting on my 1-2 parts and OEM gasket from Maxx. Good plug wires and PCV will be next.

My son and I replaced the fuel filter and removed the airbox silencer and resonator last weekend, the MAF bore and wires appeared very clean. I aimed the headlights more to my liking before daylight yesterday morning, and will polish the lenses asap.

I may end up needing a TPS... on "normal" accel from stop, it wants to shift 1-2-3-4 before I even get to ~25-30 mph. It shifts fine if you get on it kinda hard.

The problem is most parts guys are not dedicated professionals like Max. All they know is to ask you the year , make, model, and desired part. I actually had a Ford dealer parts MANAGER tell me he could not sell me Ford 4:10 gears for my 98 LSC because only 3:27 will work. Another example is when I bought rear bearings from Max. He said I had 2 choices. The Lincoln part number for $85per or the Ford RAcing part number for $30 which is the exact same part. I have yet to run across a dealer parts guy with that knowledge and professionalism about parts.
