I took my 93 to my mechanic b/c of the shudder it was having and he tried shudder guard, but it didn't help. He said my torque converter is trying to keep the tranny in lockout and I can drive it w/o the od on in the city and it won't shudder. But he said i will need to replace the tc eventually. I've read several threads about this, but I'm not clear on my options, so my question is:

Is my tranny beyond help at this point? How much to replace the torque converter, if it can be done at all?

I don't know how long it will last, but when you do decide to get a new one, check out www.edgeracingconverters.com I got my high stall from these guys and I have been very pleased with it. Mine is the "street edge" series (I think). Mine is also a 3200 stall speed.... I would recommend getting a higher stall speed while you're at it, and also don't be afraid of stall on these cars. Mine was about $565 plus shipping to my doorstep, not a bad deal at all. When I gave these guys a call, it ended up being a 30 minute phone call because the guy wanted to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted and what was best for my car, and he also wanted me to give him a call once I got it in and to make sure I was pleased. It also brought a new life to the car, comes out of the hole much quicker, and has a much better midrange response, so check them out and hope I helped.

Will leaving the old tc in the tranny hurt the tranny?
