Need more rear spring height.

Well my lowered conv rear springs have always been lower than the fronts(common) w/ and w/o my stereo in place and it's bothered the heck out of me for awhile. Now would be a good oppertunity to fix said issue. Option 1 is to get some sort of spacer for the bottom of the spring such as this

Second would be to use a pair of t-bird springs I have in the basement. Only problem with that is that it's more time consuming to get the right hieght. ex: drop old springs, insert new springs, measure, cut new springs(I don't have the tools), install new springs. Repeat if it doesn't turn out right ect.

#1 would be easiest and ton's of people have used them. A simple 1" lift is all i'd need so that means i'd be looking for 1/2" spacers. The spring would require more work with the same outcome.
 
I would but I don't know how high they'd sit. Not a fan the raked look. Right now theres 0 gap between tire and car. I want like 2 fingures.

Are they diff(slightly lower) then the ones offered with the conv kit's? The ones i've seen will def give me a raked look.

I had conversion kit in my old 93 and ass end dragged ass, put Tbird coils, and idolaters with spring mount provided in kit car sat 1" higher got springs directly from a 94 Tbird lx with 4.6
 
With my system, the cheap ass Suncore rear conversion in mine sits at about 2 fingers from the tire. (not with me in the car, then it's like 1.75 fingers)
 
If you don't already have spring perch in the rear. You could get a set it'll raise raise it abit.

lol, rather I run my new setup or not I need to get some height back there. I went out last night and poked the gap, it hits the tire right were the tread starts. :(
 
I'm afraid, your best option is stock bird springs. Install, measure. 1/2 coils usually ~.75" drop, full coil ~1.5" drop. To cut springs, you need a cutoff wheel and some air.
 
I don't mean to sound like a broken record but are the tbird and mark rear coils the same height outside the car? I read that the lca was different resulting in differances in height between the 2, something to do with the lca(besides the diff in what it's made from). I could just be reading nonsence though.
 
I don't know. I'm ASSUMING that with the perch in a Mark LCA it is the same as a Bird. But I've never seen a Bird spring beside a Mark conversion spring.
 
The "spring" pocket in the Mark VIII LCA's is 1/2" lower than the spring pocket in the Thunderbird LCA's. Use either a spacer or a perch to make up the difference. I've found that a .375" base on my spring perches when used with Prothane 6-1709 spring isolators works best.
 
If you're going with T-Bird coils, why not just use T-Bird lower control arms too? I know the Mark's aluminum LCA's are cooler than the stamped steel ones in the T-Bird, but using all T-Bird parts would make things a lot easier, IMO.

The stamped steel LCA's were only used on '89 Thunderbirds, later cars used cast iron LCA's.

I bought a set from DLF and it sits perfect, he made them so I would also have the correct perch hieght inside the spring to run the set of tbird bags I have.
 
AAS doesn't supply any perch. A rubber mat and a piece of metal.
 
I don't think any of those companies sells a lower perch with there kits. All you get is the rubber mat and the upper perch.


Having owned the 1.5" kit for the last 10k all I can say it's the biggest waste of money. Cheap/soft struts and springs, just horrible.

Arnott seem to be better perchs then strutmaster.
 
I don't know which company made mine but it's the big hunk o' metal one with the nipple up top. Not the one that folds at the corners.
