Hood Hinge
Before adjusting the hood hinge (16796), make sure that the hood (16612) is properly aligned. The hood hinge can be moved side-to-side to align it with the opening in the hood inner panel and up and down to obtain a flush fit with the front fenders (16005).
Loosen the hood latch retaining bolts until they are just loose enough to move the hood hinge.
Move the hood hinge side-to-side to align it with the opening in the hood inner panel.
Loosen the locknuts on the two hood bumpers (16758) and lower the hood bumpers.
Move the hood hinge up or down as required to obtain a flush fit between the top of the hood and front fenders when an upward pressure is applied to the front of the hood. Tighten the hood latch retaining bolts to 10-14 Nm (89-124 lb-in).
Raise the two hood bumpers to eliminate any looseness at the front of the hood when closed. Secure the hood bumper locknuts.
Open and close hood several times to check operation.
If correct hood latch (16700) position is not obtainable, remove two locating pins from hood latch by tapping them into the radiator support (16138). (They will eventually fall from the vehicle.) Then follow Hood Alignment procedure.
If hood closing efforts and inside hood latch control handle and cable efforts are too high, adjust the hood hinge assembly upwards and/or the hood bumpers downwards.
