I am going to buy a new alarm. I dont have much experience on alarms, so all advice and recommendations will be considered. affordable but dependable.

viper 791xv is a remote start alarm and is pretty good. it has the responder thing like the cliffords (same company). I would probably get the 495xv (not sure on that model#) it is the same thing but not the 2-way. Make sure to get the extras, back up batteries, pizo siren, tilt sensors. All that little stuff is kinda taxin but is worth it.

I'm not too sure. I want to say I paid around $500 for the alarm and install, but that was with 4 extra sirens and a back up battery. Also, I had a friend kinda hook me up at Ultimate Electronics. Whatever you decide to go with just make sure you have a good installer, that will make or break an alarm.

Yeah make sure you get a good installer. As an ex-installer i suggest talking to the sales men where ever you go and find out who the best inn the shop is and tip him. If a guy gave me a tip before hand, i always went out of my way to do a good job, hide stuff and make it clean and whatnot. Plan on about $500 most of the time the install is included in price.

clifford and viper are co-owned by each other.. i went with the clifford blackjack.. it ccan add ANY feature and starts at around 200. it includes 2 sensors and the touch pad... once u start the car, u have to enter a code to continue driving the car, so ur car is harder to steal even if the theif gets in.. i found that coo.. u can add autostart and remote pager and etc.. but thats all add ons..
