Need everyones advice.

So my LS has been acting up lately. i just dropped 1K in it to fix the coils and VCG. While there they said i need new ball joint (replaced the other already) and sway bar. They said itll be around another grand. I have the drivers door handle snapped, too lazy to fix, the drivers mirror cracked???, A huge dent on the roof (delaer wont clame responsibility), dent on back, Also center console snapped off, bought it loose and it recently snapped off. Oh yeah one bent rim (pot hole, going to fix once i get more money)
So lately ive been thinking about selling the LS. Ive dropped 4K in it, just on repairs alone, everytime i say well that should do it. then another porblem arises. Its killing me on gas also, but after repairs i jumped to 17-24. I love the LS and treat it real good, all the problems are due to other drivers or dumb ex. Its just hit 67k and is now out of warranty (never buy exotic warranty co.) With all the problems like ball joint and other im thinking its not worth repairing and just get a diff. car.
Im wondering what you guys would do. If anyone has any parts that i listed above let me know. no junk yard around here has shiat. Please help me decide, if u were in my shoes what wouls u do.
 
I just had my ball joints replaced on my LS, spent a little over $800, feels really nice now. I mean if you fixed the main stuff already, there is not much to go wrong on the car (I hope), so I say keep it and just fix the rest of the problems. Is it paid off?

I spent $7000 in repairs on my LS, I didn't have a single problem when it was under 4/50000 mile warranty, but after that all begun. I am getting sick of it sometimes and I am thinkin of sellin it, but if I spent that much on it and I still have 2 years to pay it off, I'll just better stick to it.
 
It all depends on how you like the car. Is the car fixed now other than the ball joints? I mean if you like it then keep it. If not, get rid of it.
 
you're going to have problems with every car you buy. what the deciding factor should be, is if you can comfortably afford repairing a more expensive car like the LS. if it's affecting the rest of your lifestyle negatively, get rid of it and get something idiot proof like a honda. i had my 90 accord for years and the only repairs i had to do were master cylinder, mid pipe & muffler, brakes and windshield. and that thing went on at least 3 cross-country trips, was kept in cold vermont most of its life, and still kicked butt out here in california. that might be an option.

for me, i couldnt picture myself in anything other than the LS (well ok.... maybe the S2000). but if repairing it meant i couldn't afford going out, or paying bills, f*ck that i'd sell it the next day.
 
For a number of years I leased a new car every 2 years. I didn't always get exactly the options and color I wanted and I could never do any mods, but I never had a car problem, because I always drove a new car.

So my point is, you have to decide what's most important: owning a car, being able to customize it the way that you like and accepting the repair costs when something goes wrong. Or always driving something new, but it's always someone else's car (the leasing company), you can't really mod it and their is no end to the payments.

Some people get lucky, but most cars that I've had for more than a couple of years do require significant out-of-pocket expenses, regardless of warranty. Even just tires and brakes cost a fortune anymore. It's definitely a trade-off.
 
Yea, as often as I trade vehicles, I was thinking about going the leasing route. I am not that interested in modding one. Heck, the only reason I have the SCT Xcal2 tuner and PRP for the LS is because I already had it for my Vic and was able to swap the PRP to the LS for free because I had not had a chance to register the PRP to the Vic. I am seriously thinking about looking into a lease next time. I always seem to have a car note anyway, may as well drive something new every 2 or 3 years.
 
i personally don't like the idea of having to give back a car you've gotten accustomed to after a couple years. it's just odd. maybe i'm weird but i develop an owner relationship with my car and the amount of time and effort i put into it is something i enjoy. the plus side to leasing is that even though you're always spending top dollar, you can pretty much rest assured nothing is going to go wrong, and you can experience many different rides. gotta have stellar credit though... otherwise you'll get a bum deal.
 
hey man IMO i think you should sell that thing asap because now its the ball joint but what bout next week or the week after, you gonna go broke. If you really like the LS and me personally i love it, then get a newer year model, then youll have a brand new warrenty, no problems and low mileage, yes the gas kills me to but thats why i work 2 jobs, if i want a nice car with the power like the LS then i work my ass off for it, but when it comes to repairs, if it goes over 5k at any time im junking my car as fast as i can. No point in dropping so much money into something thats gonna break again.
 
This is another big reason I want to sell my LS. Nothing wrong w/ it yet(knocks on wood) but I know there well be something eventually and since the car is already sucking alot of money out me I do not want to lose even more. So for me, selling the LS seems like the best idea.

I am thinking of leases next go around after I have saved up the money I want too(not for the next car). Yea you cannot do anything to them but I have never cared to do much in having a "new" car in the first 1 and an half anyway and I only plan to do 2 yr leases, almost anything longer seems pointless to do since you could possible have bought the car and paid it off after 4 so way go longer. If it turns out the car I have leased becomes apart of me than you can turn around at end of the lease and purchase it and the best part is it well still have low miles, well for me, I do maybe 10K a year.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen younger folks in the miltary do this. They go out and think "Man, this LS/Benz/BMW is only $20K...I can totally afford that!" Then they get the requisite $5K worth of wheels and tires. Maybe a tint job and a stereo upgrade... and then the first service bill comes $700 here $1500 there. Now he/she can't pay his service bills cause the credit cards got maxed out buying all that bling.

So if she's pinching your wallet I would suggest getting out from underneath her while you still can. Your financial health is lots more important than a fancy toy.
 
And some more advice would be not to really bring this "should I" stuff on here. Conclusions are jumped to very quick here. Still do get some advice but others, nevermin.

I know that I am young and bought my LS not because it was cheap but because it was a car I really liked. Now the car has lost its allure it had and I would like to get something else, the saving more money is also there but I can accept and afford the cost of owning one. A couple cars prior to this one I had spent tons of money to fix and keep on the road. None of my cars have seen over 1000's of dollars in aftermarket stuff like rims and things to make it look badass. My LS only has cheap v8 emblems added and an intake and I got tint to protect my interior, not even dark btw. My other cars, well I put really nothing into them besides tint to protect interior, all the other money was for maintance.

If the car is giving you trouble, like many well especially if they are bought used and you are sick of spending money and having problems go wrong that make the car undesirable than it used to be than why not get out, that is why they have dealerships, to get something else. Not sticking w/ one or two cars is not a bad thing, no one should get on you for not wanting to waste money on a car consistantly.
 
is there any other ls guys around you? If so team up and start fixing stuff. I love working on cars as long as someone else is around.

theres a good point, me and my boys just did my brakes yesterday new rotors and pads with painted calipers, we are also gonna do my VCG for preventative purposes. its fun and saves a sh!t load of money.
 
Its not the whole money factor.... well i take that back. I make good money at my job. I can afford the car and everything else. I may struggle at times, which im sure everyone does or has at one point or time in their life. Its just that I bought the car for 14k and am paying it off. I expect there to be problems with any car i get, thats life. But give me a break Ive paid half of what i bought the car in repairs. Thats terrible. I cant help but to think, YES i got it all fixed, but i know something else will come up in a week or 2. I was thinking about getting a warranty through ford.
When my car was at the dealership they told me to get a warranty and theyd fix all the things wrong with the car now. Then any other problems that came up would be covered. But then i say theres antoher 2k that i could put towards antoehr car.
Man im so confused, i love this car and the looks i get in it. But all the problems are killing me.
If anyone in the area is good with cars and can get me a hook up on parts let me know. Maybe we can help me change my mind into keeping this car.
 
Sell that poor car. I'm honestly not trying to come off as rude but you have quite a collection of posts over the past 4 months about this car... Put it down and get a new one or something ;) Its been beatin enough lol
