Hey does anyone have a used tuner for sale or know which one I should buy if new. I have 4:10 gears with trac loc, cold air mod, and Dirty Dog valve body.

the most I wana spend is $300. My old lady is watching what i spend on the car till we finish remodling the house and get our two vacations in this year. Heading to Mardi Gras tonight about a 9 hr drive when I get off at work.:D

You should be able to get your hands on an unlocked X-2 for 200ish dollars, give or take. Then all you would need is a tune file from your favorite SCT dealer.

Unless, which is very unlikely you find an X-2 that was programmed for a 96 Mark 8.

Tune files range from 65.00 up to 200.00 depending on what SCT dealer you choose.

Do your research, some SCT dealers REQUIRE you buy a device from them and dont want to put a tune file on a used device for various valid reasons.

I know a local guy with a 96 LSC that has an X-2, he's selling the car.. he might want to sell the X-2... if you dont run across one on one of the boards.
They ARE out there..

That is right in the ball park of a used device and a tune from a dealer.

IF you felt like "expanding your horizons" you could forgo the tuner for the moment, and buy the SCT software and spend some time getting familiar with it.

Then pick up a used X-2 and flash your tune you created to the car.

The software is 329.00 from SCT..and IMHO it's worth its weight in gold.

how about this:

personal tune vs. professional dyno tune

is that a question??

it's very hard to answer.

For a 1 shot 1 kill, a professional dyno tune....but usually dyno tunes fall short in the transmission dept and overall drive-ability.

For an individuals car, a personal tune, done with a WB02 COULD yield a better tune than one created in an afternoon on a dyno.

Over the road tuning with WB02 is tuning the car under the actual conditions it would be operated at...and often yields better results.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying a budding tuner with a WB02 is BETTER than a professional dyno tune.

But the ability to make changes down the road, after the fact simple cannot be put into a dollar value.

Personally MYSELF I get more enjoyment and knowledge from "over the road tuning" over the course of a couple of weeks, rather than an "afternoon" strapped to a dyno.

If you want a "fire and forget" solution.. get it dyno tuned and fuggetaboutit

I changed my tune, yesterday...some minor shift schedule changes.
Then I made another change this morning and tested it on the way to work.

that's about 200.00 worth of "Re-tuning"..that costed me ZERO.

WAKE N BAKE, my favorate

See, we aint all that bad...common ground is found.

We get quite intense around here, if you haven't had a safety meeting it's easy to get offended by us "safer individuals".

OG kush for breakfast

gonna flip on the Northern Lights for Lunch...

and.. some "GOOberry" for an after dinner snack.

that's the plan.

I am really really REALLY "SAFE" right now too.....

getting ready for Lunch II not because I'm feeling unsafe..just because it tastes so damned good....
