Nav system opinions

What ya'll think about this for a 97 base. It does just about anything you'd want to do in a mobile entertainment system and has a msrp of about 1100...plus it would look like factory equipment...opinions?

why visteon? not that there is anything wrong with their quallity but you would be seriously limiting you future expansion ability.

with proper preperation and installation technique you can make almost anything look factory...it never fails when i someone new rides in my 93 seville they are suprised that you could get "factory nav & bluetooth" way back then...little do they know the unit is a 2008 pioneer (with a little custom work i was able to make it an exact fit and I got the control panel to match everything else)

If you want help in that dept I will be more than happy to advise

yeah, but in my between trying to read while driving or having something tell me "turn right in 400 feet" I'll take the later.

and good luck making that appear like factory equipment
 
i have the f700 by pioneer worth every dam penny in my mark theyre 400 on ebay i havea ipod hooked up to it navigation built in already
 
its called a map...probaby before your time :)


that was not a bash...I respect any 19yr old who drives an american car that was never offered with anything less then 8 cylinders

ok, ok, I'm sorry :)...the only thing I can do is get on the internets and do stupid web searches...I think I have read the ENTIRE mark viii forum @ LVC...this back surgery bulls#%* sucks big time...and it's not even been a week. Uggghhhh....
 
that one i can feel for you on....they never tell you how bad the road to recoverery is after back surgery.

As far as nav, as one other poster said the pioneer f700 (or f900 if you want dvd's) are pretty decent units...I have a love/hate relationship with my f700, but when you consider i picked it up as a refurb on ebay for 3 bills there is really no room to complain, and modding it to look factory was very simple. Thats what I have in the 93 seville, running ipod, hd, both sirius & XM, and movies ripped to an sd card; get the job done nicley. Kenwood also makes some decent units but you will spend a little more money.

The real question becomes what all do you want as far as features and future expansion? (ipod, bluetooth phone or audio, sat radio, HD, usb)...with the right install technique anything can be made to look factory
 
I just traded my garmin nuvi 680 for a garmin 885T. I've always loved my garmins. I've had one since they first come out. The 885t is by far the best one I've ever used. Turn by turn, route time, detours, trafic reports, posted speed limit on the screen, blue tooth, FM transmiter, jpeg viewer, mp3 player, doppler radar maps, lane assistant and the best new thing, voice reconition. Has a little remote that goes on your steering wheel. You push the button and you can tell it to do anything that their is a button for, directions, yellow pages, phone numbers and your phone book off your phone. 2 gig free internal memory with a micro sd slot. I don't think thiers a better unit on the market for 600 bucks. I always use it for partying, just unhook it from the mount and set it by any stereo and you got all your songs right their.
Plus with its battery
