My second gear sucks!!!

When I watched the 1st video I didn't think it was too bad, probably just need gears but after watching the 2nd video your Mark VIII does seem to be slow from 60-80mph, slower than the Continental for sure. Have you taken the Mark to the track yet? Is that video after you got the chip or before?

after the chip and no I haven't taken it to the track yet but I will soon. I am pretty proud of the 0-60 and that was with bad tires so the launch sucked
BTW can you guys post your 0-60, 0-80 or 0-100 ................ I need to see other genII so I can compare
Thanks

Take it to the track or better yet get it on a dyno. See what it does with and without the chip. Just a shot in the dark but maybe your tune isn't properly disengaging the IMRCs.

Sounds like it's loosing power before the shift or the trans is doing strange things.

That's not too bad, really, but it looks like the engine bogged a little in 2nd gear at just under 4500 rpm.

When was the last time you did a tuneup?

Sergmark, the Gen 2's cut power to the engine during shifts to make them smoother and more Lincolny. That's probably what you're seeing.

Well all Mark VIII's retard timing between shifts however a good tune on a chip should have removed that!

Ok ...But I can hear it.... Smooth shifts o.k maybe I can buy that but his conti is not doing it ?

Alright so I guess I have to remove this timing retard thing. I have kept my Mark Pretty much tuned up, I think all I have to do is changed the plugs.
"it looks like the engine bogged a little in 2nd gear at just under 4500 rpm."
I have other videos too and it always seem to stop at under 4500 RPM. I posted this up before too and they said that it was normal.
Thanks guys

BTW, mark0101, does your car shift at 7000 rpm in Drive as well? I have an LMS chip which is supposed to raise the rev limiter, but it still shifts at 6000 RPM on the dot. I haven't tried manually shifting, since from what I understand, the pre-97 trannies don't handle that too well.

my stock 95 shifts at an indicated 6500 on the 1-2 and the 2-3 both before and after the jmod.

Your car has a chip then, look for it underneath the dash. Stock always shifts at 5800-6000rpm.

If you are talking about this Video, I manually shifted it on 7,000 RPM but in drive, It shifts at 6,100-6,200 RPM.

No chip in mine and it doesn't shift till 6200-6300. Also kicks down to 1st from 40 which most say it won't. 41 no, 40 everytime.

no chip. unless the 78 year old (when purchased) original owner put 1 in.

ive pulled the ecu and theres nothing special on it.

also....mine will not kick down at anything above 37. was a chase car in an srt4 race from a 40 roll. man they left me hard cause i was stuck in 2nd.

That's not very true. My stock tune '96 shifts at about 6,300 floored and it shifts fine every day of the week.
