My Review on 1st Gen VS 2nd

Thinking about it, there should be no comparison. The two cars are in different classes. The MKS should be compared to the Town Car. Yeah right! The real comparison would be the LS and MKZ. I guess I will have to TROLL in the MKZ section. I love the MKZ interior!

today some jackass that works at the same place i do wanted to race his gen 1 v6 vs my gen 2 v6. im always down for whatever. he quit when i started to pull away. and then i went kinda slow so he would catch me at the next light and that btch wouldnt even roll his window down. some ppl...

but i think the gen1 v gen2 debate is a ptless one nowadays. chrome waterfall grill is the main thing that jumps the appeal of the car, and theyre like $200. i think thats the best addition to any ls. everything else is mostly comparable. just go for the best deal you can find if you want an ls.

ive never driven a non-sport tho, my v6 is a sport, so there might be something there.

the power jump in a v8 isnt that much. im not sure what you can beat with the extra 50 hp that i cant beat, spare a lexus or two. i dont get why ppl race entry level luxury cars tho. when i lose i lose. i know there is a less expensive car in somebodies driveway that would smoke the car i just lost to so it doesnt matter all that much

And the 2013 MKS will exceed the LS in every way imaginable. Sorry

No one here mentioned MKS. It was first Gen VS second Gen that I compared.

And fyi, yes ive been in the MKS, and id still take the LSV8 over the Mks, in a heartbeat. Theres NOTHING definitive proving the MKS is better in every imaginable way. Thats just your own opinion.

If given the option, LS8 supercharged or MKS, id take the LS8 and whip cream that SCV6 down the drag all day long. And i Like the sound of the AJV8 on Magnaflows. I dislike the MKS engine sound very much.

All subjective and opinion bud.

I just did a 250 mile trip in the MKS, it might not be an "LS" but it handles very well and in sport mode it will move. Dont knock it until you've tried it. And the 2013 MKS will exceed the LS in every way imaginable. Sorry

Oh not to mention the mpg far exceeded the LS. Never could make this trip in the LS on one tankful. Not only did i get waaay better mileage i filled up with regular gas saving even more. So ya'll can keep your "twisties" superiority.

It's uglier and fatter. There's two ways it will not exceed the LS. Also FWD and heavier. Two more ways. And I'm saying that as someone who likes the MKS a lot.

Now I am not sure if the exhaust is the same but, I ran across an old guy and his wife in a parking lot they had just pulled in with a new SHO. I couldn't hear the exhaust at idle but I could feel it in my chest! That's pretty deep for a 3.5 six. I guess if you think about it, each cylinder is larger than each in an LS V8.

Some of what you say may be true. But, as aged as the LS is, it will outhandle your MKS without a lean. And, that's a fact.
That's 13 year old technology still kicking a55 today, that's why people don't ignore the truth and you see the hype that you see.

It was this comment that got me stirred up. On the highway when in sport mode the MKS will fly like an eagle just like the LS does. Had a car being a clown and i left him in my rearview and could barely see him.

I simply came on here originally to say my LS was gone and i replaced it with a MKS and then all the bashers came out. FWD, not as good handling, etc, etc. Now here i am actually the one with my butt in the drivers seat and im thinking, geez...the LS wasnt as much as it was cracked up to be. Keyword "as much". Still good, but it doesnt have a superhero cape flying from its trunk. And the MINOR details in either performance or handling of the LS are completely blown away by the options on the MKS. Thats my stance on the issue.

And comparing my MKS to a XF is plain nonsense. Apples and oranges.

Dont know if any LVC'ers are in the Orlando area but i'd gladly meet up and do some playing around to see how the mighty LS will hold up to my measly MKS. I'd think you'd be shocked.

So is comparing a LS to a MKS.

I have no reason to praise the LS. I have moved on and could really care less. I like the truth and when i see a wrong statement, i step in.

But comparing a 2009 design to a design from the year 2000 makes sense? Well ill give you the gen II design which is still 6 years behind it. So thats 2003 technology versus 2009. Even new KIA's have some better features than the LS. In the end its still a KIA.

The XF is actually a very good comparison. Its a current dew 98 platform design, its also a 4 door luxury sedan. I believe it was designed by Ford even and TATA just carried it over. But because its actually a lot more car for the money you don't think its fair game? Other members on this board have bought vehicles, posted, and didn't sit there and continuously post how much better they think the vehicle is. And you don't even have an ecoboost AWD, just plain ol wrong wheel drive base engine model. But the car is nice ill give you that.

Someone went to an AMG, someone else a 5 series, and someone else an XF. All three have plenty more to brag about with their vehicles but they have been very humble because we already know the LS is not the latest and greatest, doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Frankly you're coming off as an ass about it and you know this is the internet, you cant post anything without other people giving you feedback on it. I wasn't going to post this but i think it needed to be said.

Well, I'm no great fan of the LS myself, however... since your car was wrecked and you got this MKS, you've been coming on to different threads talking about how much better the MKS is than the LS. I'm glad you're happy with your new car, but now you're sounding like the guy that tells everyone that his current car is the best car in the world in all categories while his last car was a complete POS. That's really starting to tick people off. Glad you like the car, but you simply can't expect to come onto a board focused on one car and talk about how great a different car is and not get this sort of response. I mean, I'm a GM guy through and through and I only have a Lincoln due to my wife's medical issues. I'd not have even joined if not for the need to maintain the car. But, as this is basically a Ford board I don't go into every thread talking about how much better my Chevy is than the Lincoln LS. There are things my truck does better than my LS, but there are things my LS does better than my truck. I try to keep my posting free of any preference, only bringing my GM experience in when I think it'll help someone and I don't go on and on about the superiority of the GM powertrain.

... but now you're sounding like the guy that tells everyone that his current car is the best car in the world in all categories while his last car was a complete POS. That's really starting to tick people off. ...

Amen.

ill defend the mks guy just for the hell of it:
there is a certain sense of 'ls is still the best lincoln ever made' on here and i think that is where mks guy is going with his argument. i believe he is just trying to say that some ls enthusiasts may be happy with an mks. its a true statement, but like everyone else, i would recommend a million other cars before an mks... esp xf/e-class.

if you are hardcore about a lincoln badge, then his comments are at least semi-valid in a topic such as this. just as someone with a mark could chime in with valid remarks. my 2 cent

Even when it passes you by, the MKS sounds bad.

I was standing on the Road. And a car drove by (Mazda I think) and it sounded like " zzzzzoooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOmmmm"

Edited: I said nothing bad. ;)

Thank you Hite .. But admit, you did laugh :D

I myself owned both a '02 and '05 so i understand your points. Unfortunately these cars get hyped up alot on here. What was once an old mans performance luxury car is now a younger kids "big time" car. People buy a used 2nd gen for a couple grand and all the sudden they are ballers adding rims and lowering. Essentially doing things to a car that was never meant to be done. Somewhat embaressing for a Lincoln. My opinion anyway. The older the LS gets the younger the drivers/buyers are gonna get and think they are big time.

Well, exactly. Its your opinion and I respect it.

My Opinion, is All cars are developed the way a manufacturer wants it, and certainly dont want it to be modified. However, in my own opinion, Stock is boring and sucks. Mustang, MKS, Ferrari, Stock to me is boring.

I like to mod things. My whole PC is custom rigged. Why should I settle for the garbage HP releases when I can custom rig.

Same thing with cars. Dont matter what car I drive, its getting Modded. If I was loaded and drove a Bugatti, id find a way to customize that too! If I drove a Ford GT, id find a way to put subwoofers in it. I customize everything!!

Incidentally, that happens to be the reason I HATE APPLE and their stupid iPhone.
Android is more customizable. And that tells me about a person, that is, if they use Android or iPhone ;)

there is a certain sense of 'ls is still the best lincoln ever made' on here

Well, yes. But then, what would you expect on a forum with this title?

Lincoln vs Cadillac > All about the Cars > Lincoln Vehicle Forums > Lincoln LS

It's to be expected that people on a Lincoln LS board would think the LS is the bestest car ever, even though we all know that the best car ever made is actually the... no, I won't go any further with that. :)

If the guy is happy with his MKS, I'm happy for him, but if he wants to keep bagging on the LS while hyping his jumped-up Ford Taurus (and the Taurus is a nicer looking car to boot, the MKS has that horrible grill that looks like gigantic teeth) when he's on an LS forum, I think he can continue to expect more abuse for it. And with that, I think I will back out of this "debate."

Well, Thing is, "Best" is soooo subjective of a word that one cannot simply say something is better without using written, proven factual information.

In the case of this forum, I believe "Best" is used as more of an opinion than it can be as a fact, because there is no way to definitively prove what the "Best" Lincoln may be, because one type of Lincoln can be one mans favorite, while said Lincoln can be another mans average Lincoln in compared to HIS favorite Lincoln.

So sentences really should start with "I think _________ Lincoln is the best Lincoln because...."

And to the gentlemen with the Mks's, I think the LS is the best Lincoln. In my mind, ive made that my choice. And truthfully, in 10 years, should MKS's drop in value like the LS did, I likely wouldn't buy one. But that's me.

Im entitled to list reason MY top 5 reason for the LS being the best Lincoln

1) Superior suspension and one of the most expensive platforms Fords used.
2) 3.9 AJ with custom work, can be suped up very nicely.
3) Body styling is gorgeous, and to date, is still the nicest looking Lincoln.
4) Battery is in the trunk, and that makes for uber easy Car Audio installation.
5) Limited in quantity, and enjoyably rare for those who own it.

i just say f lincoln altogether anymore. that new mkz/mks look worse than the old one, plus no improvement over ls suspension/drivetrain-wise. should have given it a navigator-style grille imo (the one that kinda looks like a grid)
this picture kinda sucks but i think its one. looks a lot cooler in person...

too bad the price of xf's doesnt drop like a rock ls-style.. :p
i think that would solve everyone heres problem!

You can pick up 09 XFs in low to mid $20s all day. That's a $35,000 drop.

thats not bad; ive never priced one out bc ill probably never buy one. my 05 ls has 70k and a soon to be salvage title, pretty sure its gonna be my only sedan (and daily driver). shooting for more sport/power when ins. co. finally cuts my check for the ls... MB/AMG most likely, tho i may just sit still until i see a new Stingray in person...

I'm all for the XF. Beautiful cars. But i priced them in my area and there wasnt a single 2009 XF for under $30k. Even "base" models. I financed $16k for the MKS. So for the money i think i did alright. Just wanted to stick with Lincoln.

Little back story on my love for Lincolns. My grandfather had a loaded up 1969 Lincoln Continental. Suicide doors and all, satin like seats, all kinds of crazy features for a '69. Ever watch "Entourage". Same car. Loved it as a little kid. When he died i was the youngest in the family and i wanted that car sooo bad but i didnt have a chance. Since then i have a place in my heart for black Lincolns. And the MKS was my "black lincoln" replacement for the LS. I understand i got crazy about the MKS but thats natural for anyone who gets a new car. So apologies for the prick attitude.

I respect you so much for that! Everyone can learn from you, Fla02LS. We All need to show humility, myself too more than others!

That's okay. Wish you many miles of safe and trouble free driving.

I guess i could consider myself lucky, having so many Jaguar dealerships nearby. I used to see them with 20k-30k miles on them for about $23,000-$28,000.
Just like the Lincolns, XFs offer a lot for the money. Navigation, leather, sunroof, magnificant ZF6 speed that turns a luxury car into a racecar with a click. And bunch of other things that are standard features even in the Luxury models.

If i could have found a used 20-30k mile XF for $23-25 i would have probably given it serious consideration.
