Hard to say then. Find the brain for it and check the fuses for it and any relays hooked up to it, check the remotes, trace the wires if need be, etc...
Auto Command?
You still need to be looking for the brain and checking fuses, remotes, relays etc to start... No power or signal to brain, no start...
Whats it do when you try and start it? You've not given us any info at all really other than it wont start
when you push the remote button before it stopped working the light only stay on as long as you push the button. But now it stays on for like 3 seconds after you let go of the button.
oh, thats an oldie, probably a bad onboard relay knowing them.
I dont know/remember if the '96 has pats, but the transponder module (extra key for security/bypass module) could be toast or come loose etc.
Heres a wiring diagram for your info: http://www.readyremote.com/pdf/manuals/20023v71.pdf
